The problem is not that they are hireing models. Its what they are doing with them after hiring. Let's take a little look back.

You have Trish Stratus, one that so many people consider the best female wrestler in history. Saying she is beautiful and can get it done in the ring. Well she started fitness modeling when the college she was going to went on strike. Got noticed by WWE and came in. They put her with Test and Albert in T and A. Then she had the story line with Vince, Linda and Steph. So the audiance was familar with her by the time she started getting into the ring.

Victoria (Tara), was a fitness model and compeated in competions agenst Torrie Wilson. She got to WWE, was one of the God Fathers Ho's, was one of the women and the shower with Eddie in the tape that Chyna seen when they had the storyline with Eddie and Chyna. Then they bring her in as the phyco, having a history with Trish.

Torrie Wilson, was a fitness model, becomin a Nitro dancer, then came to WWE and had the storyline with Tajiri.

Stacy Keibler, a Ravens Cheerleader, becomes a Nitro Dancer and then Miss Handcock before just using her name.

Maria, was a model, did the Divas search and ended up doing the stupid girl act being the back stage interviewer.

Kelly Kelly, model, they gave her the Extreme Expose, then she was sapost to be dating Mike Knox and did the triangle thing with CM Punk.

Now I know not all these ladies are great in the ring. But they were all over with the fans. It's because they are beautiful ladies and WWE/WCW did something with them before just throwing them into the ring to get a match out of them. The benifit that Tirsh, Victoria, Lita and the ladies of the Golden Age of the Divas division had was Fit Finley. He took something that was sapost to be a rib on him and turned it into a thriving devision. He got the Ladies to push themselfs and they would be learning new moves and coming up with match ideas all the time.

The Biggest problem the Divas Division has is they are not givin the Time that it takes to get over. Weather it is being a manager or some story. Just look at the ones they are giving time to. Ones like AJ, Eve, Layla and Kaitlyn. They get over with the fans till the storyline derails but that is do to the writers not being able to come up with a good way to finish a story and start them into a new one. Also, they are not givin time in training, they are just getting turned out at FCW before they ready.

Back in the Golden age of the Divas division there was time put into the product and money. We would have posters, dvds, magazines, among other things that would get the Divas faces out there. But that was back when there were rumors that Vince would be doing some back stage skirt chasing so he had more interest in the division. Now the Divas are lucky if they get 3 minutes for a match and they don't have much products at all.

Also the PG era dosnt help. Where they cant show too much skin and Lawler had to tone back which he was one of the main reasons that the Divas devision got over 10 years ago. Now he can't even say puppies because it's not PG. Even back when Trish was around some of the matches were not that great but the divas wore less and did gimmick matches to cover it up which you cant do now.

Over all, them hiring models to become new divas is not the main problem. Its how they are packaging the division. They are not getting much time at all, little merchandise, and the PG era restricks them.

As for the OP, Kelly Kelly left when her contract was up, not because they dumpped her. There was stories that they wanted to keep her because she was looked at as the most marketable Diva. Which now I guess they are going with Eve having her do alot of the promotion.

As far as I see WWE can have a list complete of designs, they only need air-time. Layla and Eve began out as designs that desired to be popular and wealthy, and subsequently they discovered their art, and they didn't had an real instructor like Sara Del Rey.

cary boot camp

It's easier to get pretty women teach them basic wrestling than to get wrestlers who look like you want for WWE. And with the fact that Divas are used for interviews allot used for valets and girlfriends and other non ring roles. Them being able to wrestle is not the most important thing of success. I wish the just had some balance or got pretty girls who were athletic like gymnast

That's because sadly, the WWE isn't really looking for women WRESTLERS. If they did, SHIMMER and SHINE would be like ROH right now: short on talent.

Instead, it's meant to be masturbation material for the virginal marks and piss breaks for the rest of us(of which I'm included). They'd rather hire fitness models and former porn stars with silicone tits and a huge ass to catfight in a ring for five minutes while the fans either take a piss or shoot their load.

Women's wrestling in the WWE died YEARS ago. Still, I wonder how many of those future Divas get a private casting call in Mr. Paul Levesque's office.....

WWE is interested in hiring good actresses; not a bunch of quasi attractive women that can do allot of fake moves really well.

I used to be a huge fan of SHIMMER years ago, I probably have a hundred matches of theirs on my computer, and as I rewatch some of them I realize how dreadfully awful most of them were. They couldn't act worth shit; why would WWE want any of them? The only two that were actually worth their weight in potential gold that haven't since seen any type of mainstream success are Lacy [retired] and MsChif.

What WWE should be doing is hiring actresses that look like fitness models, and then teaching them how to wrestle properly. The PG era would be a good chance to rebuild the division because now they don't have to rely solely on sex appeal.

I would have to say the competition level is pretty weak but the WWE has a great champion in Kaitlyn. I like her style alot, and shes cute too so thats a plus

I cant wait to see if the WWE can turn this divison around or if it will plummet once again.

Honestly, Id rather watch the Diva's in action rather than having to watch The Shield make another random appearance with no explanation.

The problem with the Divas division is two-fold. Part one is that despite RAW going to three hours and nothing really entertaining happening on Smackdown lately, the Divas have gotten no extra screen time. If the McMahon clan would give them more time, better stories (involve the guys, their storylines are getting boring too), and such, maybe people would use the restroom during commercials instead of during the one Divas match per night.
Problem number two applies to the Divas and the men. There just aren't any real personalities right now. No memorable gimmicks. No larger than life attitudes. I just rewatched a 2004 title match between Lita and Trish. It was stellar. Both women looked like warriors, fought like warriors, and won the crowd. SCREAMING fans for that match. Todays Divas frankly don't even look like they want to be there much of the time. Some of the men aren't much better. I don't have any wrestling skills or amazing physique, but in a month's time I could be a bigger draw than these ladies on personality alone. Just saying.

I like being in the future to see how stupid people are in the past.

Paige
Emma
Bayley
Sara Del Ray

All came from Shimmer in some form.

WWE has plenty of women who can wrestle, more than the past actually.
