Default Lex Luger Should Have A DVD

I personally never found Lex Luger that entertaining. However, he had a very interesting career. So much to talk about, like the cage incident with Brody, being a horseman, winning the World Title, jumping to WWE for the Bodybuilding Federation, becoming the Narcissist, becoming the All American and having the Lex Express, being told he would win the title at WrestleMania and having it taken away, jumping back to WCW on the first Nitro, and beating Hollywood Hogan for the title. Probably more interesting stuff to talk about as well.

I didn't really find Luger that interesting, but he had an interesting career. He should have his own DVD.

Definitely beating Hollywood Hogan and the NWO was his shining moment in his career. He won the title for the X number of times, but the moment when he beat the NWO after they dominated for such a long time was an amazing pay off. The crowd went crazy and Luger was on top of the world.

His WCW World Heavyweight title run back in the early 90s as a heel champion under Harley Race was pretty good too IMO. He was an egotistical jerk and played the role nicely while Sting was his number one challenger. You know you're doing a good job as a heel when the crowd pops big when your challenger gets an UP on you, example was the Battle Bowl elimination comeback by Sting after taking a Rude Awakening. He eliminated Luger at the end for a big pop in a great event by WCW (one of my favorite WCW events ever).

Luger was a serviceable power wrestler. One of the best matches I've seen him in was vs Barry Windham where he took every big move in the book and fought back for the win.

Another decent one was vs Stan Hanson where he got CLOBBERED by Stan's famous lariat for the loss.

Another notable match was Luger and Sting vs The Steiner Brothers for the titles. Very not bad match that should've gone on longer. Highlight: Luger hits Rick Steiner with the most violent clothesline in the history of wrestling.

He certainly had more than enough career highlights to warrant his on DVD, If there was one I would watch it preferably with a documentary, Some people just seem to get overlooked perhaps a slight grudge is held for the way he left the WWE but others like Madusa and Rick Rude have been forgiven for similar so who knows.

Luger has made appearances for WWE giving talks about his career and personal life.... and appeared as a talking head on profile DVDs for other superstars... so maybe Vinces disdain for him has thawed, particularly since Luger had that stroke in 2008.

Luger was perceived as arrogant back in his day- but comes across much more humble at the present day.
I would find his profile DVD interesting- though I am not sure how well it would sell, given Luger was only a WWE wrestler for a couple of years and hasn't had much TV exposure over the past 15 years.
WWE make DVDs to make money.

Maybe a HOF induction would prompt a DVD release for him?

His career has been interesting but, honestly, don't think he'll get a dvd. They're cutting back on their releases as it is and, between his problems in the past and the fact that, apart from appearing on the first Nitro, he doesn't have enough weight to his career to generate enough revenue from it.

don't get me wrong i'd watch it, same as i'd watch a rick rude dvd, but just don't think it would happen

I feel like the negativity that he went through after his career, starting with the death of Elizabeth, is too great to celebrate him.

Of course Lex should have a DVD, he's been a side player in some of the biggest times in wrestling history; former horsemen, former world champ, rumble winner, focal point of a wrestlemania, first Nitro surprise and a chief opponent of the nWo during its original run.

Uhhh, you dont think other than appearing on the first Nitro Luger "doesnt have enough weight" to his career ??

Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookie of The Year

Member of The Four Horsemen at the height of their popularity

Wrestled high profile, marque match ups against Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Brett Hart, Sting, The Road Warriors, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat

Was the public face and defacto hero for the whole first year of the NwO storyline when interest in Pro Wrestling exploded to its highest levels in over a decade (carrying WCW with Sting in storyline dictated exile & Ric Flair out with rotator cuff surgery).

Had a ringside seat for both the highs & lows of the two greatest "behind the scenes" wars for control of the US wrestling industry (Vince McMahon vs Jim Crockett and The Monday Night Wrestling Wars).

Worked for Vince, Bischoff, & Crockett in high profile roles.

This guy had a phenomenal career, possibly Top 10 over all between 1986-2000!

Was he a great in ring performer, no but he could be very entertaining in the right story with the right opponent.

Starrcade 88: His best ever performance, an epic, fast paced, back & forth with Flair for the World Title

Great American Bash 1987: The War Games matches were legendary, plus his entertaining tag bouts with Flair vs Rock & Roll Express

Great American Bash 88: Another very good match vs Flair

Great American Bash 1989: Keeping pace with Ricky Steamboat

Crockett Cup 87 & 88: Wrestled quality matches in main event each year paired with Tully Blanchard (87 vs D. Rhodes & N. Kolloff) and Sting (88 vs Blanchard & Arn Anderson)

100th Nitro: Torture Racked Hollywood Hogan to win World Title, OK match but Hall of Fame quality moment

WrestleWar 90: Probably his 2nd best match vs Flair, one of his greatest overall

Other 90s highlights included very good bouts vs Brett Hart (both in WWE & WCW), WCW World Title bouts vs Randy Savage in 1995, feuding as a fan fave vs NwO Savage in 98...

His story, playing in both the NFL & CFL along with being a prime player in the NWA, WWE, & WCW during key moments in each company's history, overcoming health issues related to drugs and his stroke, partying with The Horsemen, all of this would make for great TV.

The one thing stopping it all is Elizabeth's death, something WWE largely glosses over, giving her minor mentions in the bios for Savage & Flair and only occassionally showing matches that included an appearance by her, much like Woman (aka Nancy Benoit) the circumstances, unsavory as they are, around her passing are something WWE tries to avoid and definately does not want to draw attention to. Yet there is no way to tell Luger's story without it.

He definitely has the credentials, he should have a DVD and spot in the HOF. Really, Vince has a pornstar in his HOF and Elizabeth was no angel.
