I don't get it... what's his appeal? His entrance is way too long, his hand movements make him look like a retard and his facial expressions are stupid. He's pretty average in the ring as well.
His entrance is a work of a genius. I am a sucker for Japanese culture and like violin music like Lindsey Sterling and David Garret but cant think of anybody who knows something about music and can deny this epicness
That music along with his movement gives you kinda unique experience of epic proportions. Add that he is good in ring and really marketable in Japan and beyond and you will see what WWE see in him. They made "roid rage" Mahal Champion because of his looks and heritage. Imagine what you can do with somebody who has that and more.
My only gripe is his promo work. That needs to be a lot, lot better. Although their biggest full time star is big Samoan guy with below average mic work. So not like its requirement to be best talker in order to be big star.
It really hinges on him being able to work extremely stiff, which is why it probably worked better in Japan. Also, wrestling and MMA are much more interconnected in Japan than they are in America.
Oh I know that Japan is all about strong style, and that most Japanese wrestlers, including Nakamura, actually have MMA records. Its not the best strategy to go with that gimmick on this side of the pond because of how popular actual MMA is over here. Nakamura has tons of natural charisma, he shouldn't have to rely on "strong style" to get over.
