Default UFC Unleashed

As a very casual fan of MMA, this show is great to watch. It has a few of the "newer" matches, and showcases a few older fights. The other day I saw 2 different Liddel v. Couture fights, as well as a few other current stars in their early days of UFC.

The best fight I've seen lately though was Paul Kelly v. Paul Taylor from the tour they did in the UK last year. Both men fought the style I like to watch. They stood up and pounded each other, and even when they were on the ground, it was almost non-stop striking...

UFC Unleashed is a great show. Its great to watch those classic matches all over again. Like Couture and Liddell battles and seeing BJ Penn knockout Sherk with the flying knee, shit even the other day they show that classic ko that happened a few months ago with Machida vs. Evans.

Another good thing about the show is that it can keep new MMA fans up to date and educate them with classic bouts. Such as the episode they had dedicated to Royce Gracie. Which was awesome as it showed his abilites to take down his foes much larger than him with his BJJ. So thumbs up to UFC Unleashed fer suree.

UFC Unleashed is definitely a great show.

However, what I'm excited about is the PRIDE 'Unleashed' type of show that Spike TV will start airing in January of 2010. That is going to be great, and it's really going to knowledge casual fans to the sport of fighters they probably don't know much about outside of their few UFC fights, and they'll finally understand just why these fighters have the fanbase they have (Shogun and Lil' Nog, for example). I'm also interested if the show is going to showcase Fedor and other fighters who now fight for Strikeforce.

I dont think they will show Fedor fights, because SF is their biggest rival now and its showcasing their biggest attraction, plus Dana seemed pretty pissed they didnt get a deal done at this time with him so I dont see why they would promote Fedor in any way right now.

As for Unleashed great show, always entertaining!! I just get a little pissed when watching them knowing I paid 55 bucks just a few months ago for some of the fights, now its free on spike!!

Did anyone tune in last night? They showed some really old school fights...The fights I remember watching live when I was much younger. Royce Gracie v. Ken Shamrock...Gracie v. Gordeau...

The entire episode obviously centered around Gracie, and was great. These episodes were from when there was less rules, shoes and/or a gi were allowed, there were no weight classes, and there were no rounds. I was hoping they'd show the half hour draw, but they showed Shamrock tapping in less than a minute.

The episode that aired after that Unleashed had Hughes v. Serra and Bisping v. Henderson. I don't know why they're putting such huge matches on all of a sudden, but I like it...

Yeah, those fights were awesome. Royce Gracie was such a fucking monster back then. I mean, the look on the guy's face and the way he carried himself just made him look like the baddest motherfucker on Earth who could destroy ANYBODY.

That was a long time ago though. Did you ever see his fight against Matt Hughes? I'm still disappointed at how that one turned out.

Yeah, those are a couple of good fights. Bisping vs. Henderson though is nothing but Bisping running and Henderson constantly throwing that overhand right. But shit... when Henderson connected, lord have mercy. I think Unleashed didn't show the extra shot once Bisping was out though, which I thought was kind of lame.

And what'd you think of the Serra/Hughes decision, NSL? Justified, or would have you given it to Matt Serra?

I've heard about it, but haven't actually seen it. I was waiting for it last night, because they seemed to cover all of his major early fights, and I was waiting for the later ones.

I was at work, and even people staying there ended up watching it in the lobby, and were like, "Is this 1993, 1994?". I like some of the newer fights, but I liked how it was back then. I understand it needed to change to grow, and become legal in more than 2 states...

I didn't see it, and they probably did it to appease Spike...Would've been nice to see though.

I thought it was pretty close...I didn't get to see everything like I wanted, but from what I saw, it looked like a Serra win. The guys doing the play-by-play seemed shocked at the outcome too.

I watched Forest/Bonnar last night. Just awesome. I get goosebumps everytime I see it. The crowd really was not happy though. I'm not really sure what the "bullshit" chant was all about, I don't see how Bonnar won.

I tuned into the Henderson/Bisping match in the 2nd round just to see the knockout. I love how they're talking about Bisping circling into Henderson's power, and then he just destroys him. Awesome.

I love watching UFC Unleashed. The fact that it shows old fights and newer fights is really good thing especially for getting people hooked who dont know the sport very well. One of my first times watching the UFC was through Unleashed and it really helped to open my eyes to the sport. I love the newer episodes that feature newer fights since im strapped for cash and cant catch most of the ppv's live. The last ppv I actually bought was UFC 100 so getting to see fights like Jardine/Jackson and Hughes/Serra is a big plus for the show in my book.
