This came to my mind some months back by Punk rumors of remaining champion until royal rumble to face the Rock (Which happened) and I already asked the same question in one my threads which was closed and I don't know why but I don't want to argue about that. certainly it had some problem but my question is:
Apart from storyline and business things if they (WWE) make Punk STAY the champ and do it by interferences and many other story and theater art related bullshits, what makes a guy like me or any other person with almost no wrestling skill or even a skillful wrestler so different from the champ of wrestling? If wwe want it I can be champion or anyone else what features (except mic skill and so on) makes the champ better than others? |

Credibility. Who the hell are you? Why should the WWE Universe care about you? Can you hold your own in the ring? Punk (and many other heels) may cheat to win, but it's not like they can't hold their own in the ring.
Way too much more to say in one post. |

and I think you've got me a little wrong it's not only about me more than that I meant other wrestlers how can you say punk is better than them if he is not the man in charge? |

mojmass, contrary to your belief most of the match isn't talked through. Just the beginning and ending. They free style A LOT of shit during the 5-30 minutes of wrestling that they pull off. Plus I won't attack your views on saying what's stopping any Joe Schmo off the street becoming WWE Champion, that is obvious, athleticism.
Not anyone can do the things these people do. They have no family life, they have trained for years, some people 10's of years to Hone and Master this craft. If you can honest to God Truth look at people like CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Antonio Cesaro, and Alberto Del Rio and say they can't go hold for hold with anyone in the wrestling world, and that their overall mat talent as well as their charisma has nothing to do with their success, well then sir, there is no helping you or changing your opinion. |

I mean Punk is more-or-less an average sized human being. Of course, he is highly trained in wrestling and he knows how to talk on the mic. Well... like it or not that is the two ingredients you need to 'make it' in this business. The third ingredient is, I guess, 'charisma'. That's maybe why guys like Tyson Kidd aren't as high in the company as they are. Tyson Kidd, no doubt, has a load of wrestling ability and he CAN talk on the mic (but doesn't get much chance) but I think his lack of charisma is why he isn't higher in the company. A guy like The Rock has all 3 of those things. But the difference between him and Punk is that he LOOKS more intimidating than Punk ever could, just by looking at them. And this, IMO, is the constant problem Pro Wrestling faces. The delicate balance between two opponents that appear to be a fair fight vs two opponents who will put on a good 'fight'. This is the 'problem' with the rise of Rey Mysterio. As much as I like the guy he never looks like he stands a chance. At least when he was fighting for Crusierweight titles the guy he faces might only be 3 inches and 20 pounds heavier than him (which is still a fair bit) but compare that to guys who could be a foot and 100 pounds bigger than him ... it just doesn't make sense. So the answer? Why can't us (the average guy) be long reigning WWE Champions? Because we didn't go to wrestling school. That's why. Technically, every guy who completes wrestling school and continues to gain wrestling experience can be champion because they have credibility but to really be good champion you need to be able to talk and have charisma. Charisma in Pro Wrestling is hard to get because there is no sure-fire way to get it. Sometimes it develops and sometimes it is there early on but at the end of the day wrestling fans have accept that match-ups will not always look fair on paper because that's what UFC and Boxing are for. |

That is the primary difference between the top guys and some random person. The reason that the likes of Austin,Hogan,Cena etc are seen as a bigger deal than the countless other wrestlers is because of their ability to connect with the audience. Look at The Rock. Most of what he says is absolutely ridiculous. But still, the audience eats it off the palm of his hand. If you have that ability, than you too can be the top guy.

Not much Difference anyone can get in the ring get beaten up from the beginning to the very end (Like John Cena) and then in the ending he is the winner.

So, are we starting a discussion about how pro wrestling works? There's plenty on the internet about that.
As far as why you aren't believable and why CM Punk is...think about a movie, lets say...an action movie, where the protagonist is a cop and the antagonist is a rapist or something. the protagonist and antagonist are selected not for their ability to actually shoot people, or actually rape, but for their ability to convince an audience (that already knows they are both actors) to suspend their disbelief. CM Punk has the ability to convince people that he believes he is the best in the world, that his character is fed up with the WWE, and leading up to this he has proven himself as a threat due to his winning matches. And he's good at it! Because people, even in the IWC, will see his promos and wonder "is he serious or is that fake". |
