If this was a few years ago I wouldn't mind, but now other show TNA or WWE puts on has some dust cloud of a human being there to make the show "nostalgic". Puh-lease, it would be nostalgic if they weren't broken down like a cheap car. It is an easy way to get viewers, but I'm tired of it. If a retro wrestler can come back and actually put on a good show I could deal, but each one gets crappier and crappier. It takes TV time from young stars just so an old hack can get their greasy palms on cash. If you have good talent, then why the hell do you have to show off an out of shape barely coherent alumni. What's wrong with these people?

It's smart for business to do one-off shows. Like WrestleMania 28. People will buy the PPV to see The Rock or Stone Cold.
Just look at the buys for WM28. Bigger than anything in the attitude era. But in the attitude era... WM drew 800-900K buys, but the other 11 PPVs a year drew 400-500K buys. In 2012... WM draws 1.2M buys, but most of the shows draw 1.5-3.5K buys. It's all short-term success. In reality, if The Rock came back full-time, he wouldn't make a long-term impact on the ratings either. The business is in a funk. The Rock or Austin are not saviours. They were great performers in a hot period for the business. In the short-term... a few shows... a few PPV's... yes, absolutely they will draw an audience. But long-term that incremental audience isn't interested in the product overall unless it drastically changes. And one or two guys aren't enough to make that shift. In the meantime though, the problem is that they're unwilling to put new guys over the Attitude era guys. Cena is an exception... he will probably "get his win back" against The Rock. But the reality is, the WWE has only two full-time stars at the moment. Cena and Punk. You could put Orton in here, but not lately. If they want to truly establish new stars... put guys like CM Punk, Ryback Sheamus, Ziggler, Daniel Bryan over guys like Triple H, Undertaker, Kane, The Rock, Mick Foley, Steve Austin, Lesnar. Go all in with your new talent. It's the only way new guys will be seen as legit champions. And the old guys won't be hurt in the slightest. |

If they bring back the correct superstars in a meaningful way, I'd be all for it. Seeing guys like Austin, Michaels, Bret Hart, or The Rock back on RAW would be great to supplement a much better show. Let's face it, RAW has massively sucked ass since they extended to 3-hours and it's sad to watch. If these older guys can come in and somehow affect the show for the better while helping these younger guys become stars, it's a win-win situation.

id like to see a few make a return but as its been said i dont think it will do much good for the wwe tho i think theres two problems wwe dont know what to do with there guys anymore and the child freindly thing as it restricts what they could use them for my memory may be hazy but during the attitude era it seemed everyone even down to lowly jobbers had some sort of storyline happening even if it was ridulous things like mark henry and mae young or kaientai and val venis it all added to the entertainment value i just think wwe is relying to much on the older guys because they cant make there current roster entertaining they just throw a title on them and expect them to be stars it doesnt work they need to be in more memorable storylines first instead of what seems like random fueds all the time

That being said, I am extremely optimistic in regards to Ryback being shot up into the main event picture. Even if his character is derivative of Goldberg like all the "smarks" are bitching about, who the hell cares? I have a higher opinion of a guy whose shtick is inspired by a star who revolutionized the industry than I do of a whole bunch of guys who have the versatility and charisma of Greg Gagne. It is that larger than life presence that the company is missing right now and I honestly believe that Ryback could be the first guy in the PG era to be just that. And who knows? Maybe when Linda gets trounced in November and gives up her inane pursuit of political office once and for all, they could start pushing some boundaries and crossing some lines again. Maybe. |

I think it is an absolutely fantastic idea to bring back Attitude Era stars, but only a select group. I'm talking big names like the obvious ones (Rock, Austin, Foley, etc.) and other strong, well-established stars (like the New Age Outlaws for instance). And speaking of the N.A.O., I would love to see them most! Road Dogg looked great in his Royal Rumble appearance earlier this year and Billy Gunn looked to be in great physical shape in DX's mini-reunion on RAW's 1000th episode. Plus, with the reboot of sorts with the tag team division, it would be great to see one of the greatest teams of all-time return for at least a short period of time. Rock and Austin are probably the most common of answers but I feel like they're almost gimme's; Rock has sporadically been making more and more appearances and he's even booked for CM Punk. So yeah, seeing the Outlaws would be awesome and I say even give them one last title reign!

I think what the TAG division need is " TAG Team finishers" now a day it was so predictable legal man get take out everybody hit their own signature move then tag it boring if they want to make a 1 man finisher we have that alot ! We need tag team movie like what the legion of doom use , the Dudley , the hardy's used (im a fan of the Dudley 2D finisher it) it give a meaning a sense of tag team

-1) Do you think it is a good idea to bring back attitude era stars back for a short period?
I think it can be good in the short term if the guys are brought back to put over today's stars. Jericho came back and put over everyone, and I think that is what is good for business. If they come back in a self serving manner then no I don't think it is good. It might get a small ratings pop, but if they come back and win all the time I think it hurts the current product when said star leaves again. 2) Who would you like to see make a short return. I thought it would be really cool to see The New Age Outlaws to come back and compete in the revamped tag division. They both looked to be in great shape, and some of today's teams could really get a rub by beating them. |

They should have Attitude Era wrestlers return to promote the new Attitude Era DVD. They don't even really have to wrestle. Just being in a skit would be fine. I'd love to see some people I haven't seen in a while return even if it's for one night. I'd love to see Val Venis, The Godfather, Hardcore Holly, Shane McMahon and the Mean Street Posse. It's always nice seeing Lita and Trish Stratus return.
