Default Rockstar Spud Wins TNA British Boot Camp

The final - promoted this morning on, erm, This Morning by The Hulkster and Phillip "Witch Hunt" Schofield himself - finished mere minutes ago. It seemed that popping a thread up just before I went beddy byes was the the thing to do. The final episode, in which each of the four contestants wrestled in the Impact Zone, was actually quite good. Rockstar Spud and 'Party' Marty Scurll wrestled one another in a match which put most - if not all - Gut Check matches to shame. The Blossom Twin's match against Gail Kim and, uh, that other one wasn't half bad either; they definitely impressed me more than they did when I first saw them in a ring. At the end of the day, the winner was (false tension please)...

Rockstar Spud, i.e. this bloke:

Spud was my pick from the start. He's a little bloke - little even for TNA, really - but he's obviously very talented and compensates for his size with his big, hardly subtle character. I'd be willing to bet that all the cretinous things he did on the show, which are numerous, were done simply to further his character.

In fact, it was nice to see all the layers of kayfabe melting away on the last show. Hogan talked about selling, positioning, characters, etc. etc. and everybody was in tears and hugging each other before/during/after the decision was made.

As was announced on the show, all four contestants will be appearing on the upcoming Road to Lockdown Tour in the UK, though it seems Spud is the only one to get a proper TNA contract out of the show (thus far). Hopefully we'll see Spud appearing on Impact soon and, even more hopefully, we'll get a second season of British Boot Camp with more contestants, more episodes and a longer runtime. Oh, and maybe a little less of a leash.

I like boot camp I picked spud but then watching the episodes I though marty scurll would get it and I'm glad they did it with spud on top but if you look at it the blossoms are already signed to ovw which basically means they have a tna contract anyway so I feel sorry for marty as he is the one who gets nothing even though marty and the blossoms will get another chance but next time they do it make more people participate as it was too short of a show

I'm still not entirely sold on Spud but he is definitely the most unique of the group since he is only 5'3. Much like Angle said he stands out the most. I was genuinely surprised he was chosen. Can this guy really hang with the rest of the roster?

Marty was the better wrestler but his character wasn't quite there IMO.

Blossoms are...okay but I stand by what I say they look like ordinary girls they don't look like wrestlers. And also as a female tag team what place do they have on the roster? None!

I really liked the last episode of this show how it was broadcast like an Xplosion. Magnus on commentary was cool and it was really interesting to see Hogan and Dixie's analysis during the match.

One thing I am curious about, is that Dixie said they chose Spud because "[TNA] have a specific need right now." what was she referring to? X Division? More defined characters? I guess we'll see.

For next BBC (lol) absolutely MORE COMPETITORS. There should be around 6-8. The fact there was only 4 limited them greatly since you had them all being let through every time with nobody getting eliminated until the final decision. Of course this is all assuming they do another BBC, I hope they do because while this show had flaws I still really liked it.

I am pleased that Spud won, as I was expecting Marty Scurll to get the contract.

The show itself was pretty entertaining, and now TNA have seen it has been successful they will hopefully decide to make a second series with alot more wrestlers and more episodes, as with only 4 competitors this time we didnt get to have any eliminations- which is my mind is what makes these type of shows better.

The Blossom Twins seem really nice girls, both are hot but they just dont strike me as top-level wrestlers, and "Party" Marty has the look and the personality to do well but I just don't think he stands out as much as Spud does. At only 5 foot 3, Spud has had his work cut out for him when becoming a wrestler but he is very entertaining and really gets into his character.

I could see him making quite an impact on TNA as kind of a Spike Dudley/Rey Mysterio underdog character. He would definitely add something different to the X-Division so I hope we see him on Impact soon rather than him being sent to OVW for ages.

I really enjoyed the show. I think this is the future of building characters for television. You take unknowns and put them on a "reality" show except unlike past attempts at this they are ready to walk right on to tv and keep it going. The show works well. Spud was the best choice for sure. He was the only one that was all around polished enough and he should be a good fit for the X-division.

Spud was the best of the bunch but, honestly, wasn't that much to work with in the competition. I think Spud will fit in nicely with the X Division...although I can see him being paired up with the 2 Robbies as that looks like a fit for him.

Spud seems to be "in" over at TNA, but how long will that last? How long till he's just another member of the roster? Would he even get released from TNA one day and end up in WWE? (Doubtful that, Vince doesn't like small guys and Spud's not much taller than me at 5'4")

Out of all of them he seemed to have the most personality and flaws (the early shows at least). I would quite like to see him clash with little robbie.
