I'm going to go with Santo by a hair here. From what I've heard, Santo is the Hulk Hogan of Mexico. From what else I've heard, he wasn't above being defeated. I've changed my vote three times at this point. At the end of the day, I'll take a Mexican legend over a British indy champion/American upper midcarder. This will be most interesting, but I think Santo wins a close one.

Yeah ive never really seen Santo but heard hes the shit in Mexico. And Mexico aint an easy place to be the shit in, so he must be doing something right.

At the same time though Nigel is a very good wrestler and techincally sound. By what ive seen with him he can go some and at a high level of intensity for a fair amount of time.

This one is going to be very close but I think the underdog Nigel McGuinness pulls out the upset win with a small package in the closing moments.

Wow this sounded like a throw away match but once i think about it, its a pretty good match.
This pretty much comes down to the legend vs the upstart. Granted Nigel is good and has had some success, but EL santo is hands down a legend, and as somebody above me mentioned is basically the hulk hogan of mexico.
El santo is old school, so he has that mentality of going to the limit and has the skill set of an old school guy but can still do the lucha stuff. So with all this thrown to nigel i think would be too much to handle, in this one the experince rules and El santo wins this.

Santo is going to win this. A man who made a career out of winning three falls matches is going to beat a man who lost the only multiple falls match I've ever seen him in. Santo has as varied an offence as McGuinness, but he also has the added bonus of rarely losing matches throughout his career. Santo is bigger, stronger and more successful than McGuinness and he spent the duration of his career beating men faster than him. Santo will win this, but he would probably take a fall or two.

I'm going to go with Nigel here, but only just barely. The main reason I ended up voting for him was simply the era in which El Santo wrestled in. Yes he's a Mexican legend (Mexican Hulk Hogan is a pretty good comparison), yes he's competed in more 2/3 Falls matches than Nigel has probably even seen (as is the Mexican custom), but the level of competition, the style of wrestling, and the training and conditioning of Santo's day just isn't anywhere near the level it's at today, an era in which Nigel has been extremely successful. He's no stranger to a long wrestling match, shit good luck even finding a Nigel main event out of ROH the past few years that didn't go atleast 30 minutes if not more, but when I think of the level of competition that Nigel has defeated and just the sheer amount of flexibility the man has in the ring in terms of moves, styles, and approaches he can take, I think he'd be able to take this match from Santo. Nigel gets the win here 1 fall to 0 at the 30 minute time limit.

The only thing I know of Santo is what Tasty posted in the WZ Tourney, which was fantastic. I could be convinced to vote Santo over almost anyone after reading what Tasty wrote. Look it up somewhere, it's brilliant.

If I remember correctly Santo went over a pretty good ROH guy in the first round of that tourney quite easily, Austin Aries. Desmond "don't call me Nigel" Wolfe is very comparable to one Mr. Aries. What is come down to for me is the fact that Santo was a bonafide superstar and Wolfe is a solid upper midcarder in a #2 promotion. Pretty easy choice for me here.

Yes, I would like to shoot a big thank you Tasty's way for that awesome thread/posts he put together on different lucha wrestlers. The first man he put in that thread was El Santo, and the fact of the matter is, this guy was the shit. Mexico's Hulk Hogan is an approximation, but he could be even bigger. He's had statues raised because of his wrestling legend. Statues! I'd take them over No Holds Barred any day.

Nigel is good. He's great in ROH and in TNA, well, think what you like. But El Santo has far more experience in the environment and I believe he would pull out the victory. Sure the challenging moveset of Nigel would be tricky at first, but Santo has 30 minutes to figure it out and get the win.

If only this was a submission match...

Santo is a legend in Mexico with McGuinness being a legend in the independent circuits. Sure, both men have their own ups and downs that can cancel each other out, with a specialist in Santo being a lucha competitor and McGuinness having submissions up his alley... but at the end of the day, the more experienced will go over the youth in a match that requires great focus and attention to detail. Nigel can get some victories, but Santo will be ahead.

Santo to take the victory.

It seems I broke the tie...

McGuiness is impressive, and he would put up a hell of a fight, but he's overmatched by Santo here. They'd put on a solid half hour contest, and I don't doubt that this would go into a sudden death finish.

I won't argue against McGuiness winning, but there's no argument against Santo, either.
