I am SO excited if this is true. He's literally been my favourite independent wrestler for about two years now and nobody is more exciting to me at the moment. Generico is one of the best storytellers in the biz, and I could list countless matches for people to go check out that would either, a) change your opinion of him or, b) higher your opinion of him. Generico vs Dick Togo from PWG Fear is a match I would highly recommend to people, purely for the fact that the storytelling is off the hook. The main thing about Generico is that his timing is almost perfect. He balances out high spots and storytelling well, but knows when the right time is to perform them. Also, do I really need to get into how fun and exciting his character is? It is clear that I am an avid "mark" (FAN) of the guy, but I just hope WWE actually keep the gimmick. I would be very confused if they signed him and labeled him Timothy Redstone from Canada.

I'm almost baffled by these comments on his signing.
This is a brilliant move! Have the detractors of this signing never seen this guy wrestle before? He's been doing the WWE style for a long time! He's a WWE style seller, he uses body language to get the fans behind him, and he has an infectious personality. A puppy dog charisma, you could say. Just if you're going to talk out of your buttocks, and you cannot see why a wrestler you barely even know about is talented or not, then just comment on a different thread. Anyways, I see nothing but money with this signing. Mask sales, Ole! merchandise sales, a new AND FAMILIAR chant for the WWE Universe to cheer along with. And if you have any doubt in your mind that WWE wouldn't be able to use the "Ole!" cheer to sell Generico's product, keep in mind that CM Punk is great friends with the band who performs El Generico's theme, The Bouncing Souls. I'm so happy that this has finally happened and the WWE Universe is in for a treat! |

Second, Steen can cut promos with restrictions. He works with Pro Wrestling Syndicate which promotes family friendly wrestling and many people say his promos there are quite good. Granted I did hear he felt up his balls to make a point before a recent match (Hurricane Sandy aid event) but WWE can use penis references, so yano. As for his size, said this in the spam section, he probably would be just a fat (being blunt about it) guy in spandex to them but he'd be different. Generico isn't the stereotypical size a WWE "Superstar" should have either but alas, hes now one of them. Steen basically is this generations Mick Foley. Maybe slightly bit bigger but surely if it came down to it he can hit a treadmill. His size just suits his current gimmick of being what people don't want him to be.

It's a good move from WWE. Very good move. He's blatently a decent wrestler from watching some of the youtube videos of him.
He's got a huge variety of moves, can exacute them well. The only flaw in this plan is the fact WWE is PG. Some of his best moves won't be used as it's too violent, and that's it. They'll probably give him a nice litlle feud with Sin Cara or Mysterio. But other than that, he'll flop. And I hate that. He won't bring back the cruiserweight division by himself.

Great, another comedy jobber. Just what we need. Here's my prediction: He comes into WWE, feuds with Santino Marella and then when it's completely annoying, overdone and intolerable, they'll wish him good luck in all his future endeavors.

I don't really have an opinion on the guy as of yet if he has been signed by WWE, then it must mean that Triple H sees something in him worth bringing to the table. Whether he actually can or not are two different things.
I don't know much about the guy to be honest. I've heard the name and what he's generally all about. Not that there aren't indy wrestlers with tons of talent, but it seems that damn near every indy wrestler has his own following proclaiming him to be the greatest thing that God ever squated out. El Generico is no different as he has a rabid fan base. As for him not being the type of guy that WWE pushes, it's an argument that I think has more and more holes poked in it everyday. I've heard the same thing said about Bryan, Punk, Cesaro, Ambrose, Rollins, Sandow and a few others, yet they've all gotten pretty significant pushes for guys that don't seem to be the type WWE goes for. Doesn't mean that he'll get a big push or that he'll automatically be saddled with a comedy gimmick or vice versa. But it's just an argument that just doesn't have a lot of steam anymore in my opinion. Otherwise, Mason Ryan would probably be right in the middle of the title picture, if he wasn't champion outright.

YES!!!!!!
This guy is INCREDIBLE! He sells like a champ, his timing and the way he builds a match is perfect, he is really really good at bumping and delivering moves, he grabs the audience and holds them tight. Like Punk & Danielson, he is over everywhere he has ever been, dude is just amazing. I'm absolutely thrilled with this signing!!!!! |

I want to say that Generico has no chance in the WWE ... but I can't commit to that.
This guy is pure entertainment. He is funny. He is good in the ring. He is easy to root for. I don't think we will see him have a major push or anything or ever really compete for any gold other than maybe tag team ... but the guy knows how to get over with a crowd and I imagine he will be able to do it with the WWE crowd as well. |

They will change is gimmick.. and it will be thrive or go the fuck home.... A guy like Chris Hero has changed fine... However someone like PAC cant find IT with his generic ass gimmick.. There are so many talented people like Generico or Steen etc. Those guys will go no where in WWE maybe Steen but they would have to keep him like he is.. I see Generico getting some other name and being like he is now... but I'm not sure anyone will take him seriously just like I know PAC will forever be a mid card highflyer.. a guy Like Kassius Ohno Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have shown they could do it but we always knew they could.. generico being so strange it will be hard to get over as a top guy but the kids will love him.

I see him as the back up to Sin Cara right now. Generico can pick up the slack in mask sells when Mysterio retires and they just have to turn Del Rio to a face to keep Latino fans having a big babyface to root for. Sin Cara better watch himself, I think his time is running out.
