I posted some of this on another thread but want to expand upon it.
One of the best things about this business is looking back at history. I started watching TNA back in 2006, they only had 2002-2006 to serve as their history or mark. I tried my best to catch up. Thats only 4 years of content and time to grow and expand. Since then they got 2 hours of show, multiple titles, multiple road ppv's, champions, fued, etc. Now we have 10+ years of content and growth. If you trace back a 10 years period in other wrestling companys, you will see many of the stars started off at a lower position, midcard, tag team, openers, dark matches. Eventually some of them became main eventers and have had multiple positions and runs in the company. For me this is the beauty of wrestling, that a guy can sit back one day and run through all their feuds and matches in a company. TNA today has an amazing collection of stars from almost every era, who each are continuing their story and mark. We have seen Storm, Roode, and even Aries rise from their start in the company to what they are now and where they are going! This is why I feel TNA will only get better and better, just imagine an in ring segment one day with an old and retired james storm and bobby roode.. classic! I think a lot of use our personal opinion to criticize a company or the way they are using their talents! I think a lot of us can be impatient at times and not focus on the bigger picture. If you look down a wrestlers wiki page you can see all they went through to get where they are. This is why when I see a talent somewhere like a tag team, and I want him the main event, I hold off any negative criticism and enjoy the magic of which match he IS on. As the years pass, then I'll look back and see what kind of matches he was placed into and who he got a chance to work with. As a die hard TNA fan, I can honestly tell you that I never thought James Storm can be a top guy! This is going back to his single feuds with Aj, and Rhino. I thought he was great but never thought he'd have the swagger to be a legit face and top company guy. Look at him now. I remember Bobby Roode in Team Canada, I remember him telling Booker T that he's tired of being helf back, I remember Beer Money forming out of nowhere, and becoming my favorite tag team of all time. I remember Fortune forming and having a great collection of heel young guys. I remember Roode beating Ric Flair, and even winning BFG series and title. He then set the companys longest title reign. Look at his growth. He lost it to Aries, who I remember from a dark match at BFG 2005. The same BFG Hardy Swanton Bombed himself over the stage on Abyss in a Monsters Ball Match. Who would have guessed 7 years ago that those men would have main evented BFG 2012 for the World Title. I know Aries wouldn't have. Hell, he would have not guessed it 5 months ago. Abyss has feuded with the likes of Sting, Raven, AJ, Angle, Jarrett, Christian, Tomko, Sabu, Bully Ray, Morgan, Desmond Wolfe (Nigel), RVD, Cactus Jack, Stevie Richards, and many more! Now he's re-inventing himself as Joseph and has a great thing going for him! I'm sure many CM Punk fans gave up on the thought of him carrying the company one day, and here we are. Also, I dont consider ex WWE guys, ex WWE guys. I consider them TNA guys. Especially people like Kurt, Hardy, Bully, and Devon who have had 5 - 7 years with the company. If someone great leaves sprint and now works for apple, they are current apple employees and members, not sprint rejects lol. I guess to wrap this up, enjoy wrestling to the fullest and enjoy every twist and turn! Most of the talent are enjoying themselves and couldn't be happier! Try and change your outlook and way to view things, and enjoy the history that is being made. 10 years from now a lot of these wrestlers would be long retired and we wont have any new content from them, just the history they leave behind during their runs. Wrestlers can leave their mark without having to reach your opinion or expectation. Wrestling and history is gold, I cant wait to see TNA's title history 5 years from now when the company is 15 years old! Sorry for the long post lol, and thank you!

Yeah, it's really easy to say that TNA simply must follow in the footsteps of WCW and fold or sell off the company to the McMahons. People have been predicting TNA's fall since the company began, but here we are in 2012 and TNA features some of wrestling's biggest stars ever while creating new ones. TNA has a lot of work to do in order to grow their company and hope to achieve at least half the success the WWE has had. Still, they've generated value in homegrown talent as well as brought in established wrestling stars. If TNA were to fold up tomorrow and sell the video library to Vince, there would be material for loads of great home video sets for years to come. I doubt that will happen though. TNA is a young company that I honestly feel is right on the cusp of breaking out huge. All it takes is for the right talent to come in to the company, ascend to the top and usher in a new era. I though Austin Aries could be that guy, and he still can. we'll see.

Over the past year and a half, TNA has slowly turned back into a wrestling that people can actually watch for more than ten minutes at a time. Excellent wrestling and good feuds that actually layer over one another to provide a feeling of realism. Strong roster that takes initiative and is rewarded for their troubles. They still have a lot of problems, but they are gradually becoming what they were supposed to be: a wrestling company, nothing more and nothing less. I haven't given up yet and don't think I could if I wanted to. Hopefully TNA doesn't give up either.

It's as simple as this TNA needs a Hulk Hogan. This means that they need a star who is going to hold the company for years, and have the company built around him. To me AJ Styles is no that star and TNA fans need to get over him, he is something of the past. TNA needs a star to build the future around, and someone who is going to be able to carry the title for about three years, someone who is going to make the world talk.

I have always loved wrestling's history. Its so intriguing to me. I'd much rather have sat through a class that thought this than US History. Thoughts have crossed my mind about what it would be like to teach a Wrestling History class like that. It won't ever happen, but the thought crossed my mind a while back. I thought about if it was just for wrestlers in training or people who want to show off what they know. I used thought it would have been unique. I grew out of thinking that, but it don't take away from how awesome of a history lesson that would be.

First of all - great thread MrPlatano1989
Absolutely right, TNA is a growing company and i would realy love to see where it goes 10 years from now... but more importantly i would also like them to rekindle the fire of Pro-Wrestling among the fans... i want them to build on the fanbase and after that ruin this PG stuff of the E! Wrestling is Wrestling... and I really could remember the matches that build todays Roode, Storm and Aries... The Formation of BeerMoney, Rise of Aries along with the X-Division, Roode's reign as champion, Storm becoming the champ... all these are golden memories of TNA wrestling.. thanks for the Thread brotha... |

Before I post, I would just like to say to the OP (MrPlatano1989) that you did a great job on this thread, it is one of the most influential threads I have read in a while, bravo.
Now away from me kissing up to the OP,/sarcasm] I think that Professional Wrestling has a hell load of a history. An interesting one too. It's one of the things that make me proud to be a wrestling fan. Sure TNA doesn't have as much as history as the "E", they still DO have an immense history and they have done well for their 10 years in the business. I do agree that wrestling history IS gold and the people that hold a lot of that credit are the legends. People can say what they want about them being rejects but if you think about it; it's because of them TNA is so successful. What if they weren't there and the company only had AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Chris Sabin, Petey Williams keeping it running? Who would pass the torch and would attract fans? It's great that the guys that lost their jobs from ECW and WCW came to TNA to help the company and to do what they love to do. Don't agree with me? Take a look at ROH... Look at the Wrestlemania 28 match card. Now my favorite moments in their history: Announcement of the X-division Sting's debut Main Event Mafia Jeff Hardy's Swanton bomb from 30 feet high Kazarian's leg drop on the ultimate X The whole "THEY" storyline ECW's reunion Hulk Hogan's TNA announcement ...and the list goes on. So TNA has done a lot for wrestling history and after those 10 years, it has become a viable alternartive to the WWE after everything it has done. From the Jeff Jarrett day's, to the X-division, to Christian's, Sting's and Kurt Angle day's, to the MEM, all the way down to the Hulkster and surprisingly towards the Bobby Roode/James Storm/Austin Aries revolution. After all this, I am proud to be a TNA fan..../with an impact]
