Default Hideo Itami injured

Quote:
As noted, Hideo Itami suffered a neck injury in the main event of the October 1st WWE NXT live event in Largo, FL after taking a powerslam from Riddick Moss.
Seemingly, this injury may put Hideo out of action for months. He's not going to take part in the Dusty Rhodes classic, and Takeover seems out of his reach. What does it mean for his career with WWE?

He missed over a year due to shoulder injuries, and this could meen effectively an end to his WWE career. It's a shame that a star of his talents couldn't do more, but I can't see how WWE would persist with him after this. What are your thoughts?

You gotta feel kind of sorry for the guy, two major injuries and it really neither of them were his fault. I don't think this will bode well for him as isn't he already in his mid thirties and won't bounce back as well as a younger guy would. His last rehab didn't go well and it took him longer, so this time who knows.

He's pretty much been injured for most of the time he's been signed. I can see the WWE releasing him, or Itami himself asking for his release. For all the fanfare of his signing, it really hasn't amounted to much. Not his fault of course, but it hasn't worked out well for either of the two parties.

I have seen the video of him taking a nasty powerslam. It was intended to be a powerslam but it got botched and the top of Hideo's head got hit with the mat.

It looks like a damn serious injury but still I hope that it isn't much serious and he can recover from it soon.

Hideo could be released soon but I hope that he isn't.

I think once it's all said & done, after Itami heals up, he and WWE will go their separate ways. He had an uphill battle upon coming back from the shoulder injury when you consider all the guys from NXT who've made so much noise in his absence. A year & a half ago, Itami was sort of viewed as, arguably, the biggest star in NXT but there've been wrestlers since who're bigger deals and are more familiar to fans. Finn Balor became the longest reigning NXT Champion and ultimately became the first WWE Universal Champion on the main roster, Shinsuke Nakamura may well be among the top 2 or 3 Japanese wrestlers of the past 10 years and he's currently NXT Champion, very well known guys l ike Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode have made big splashes in NXT, Asuka has been the most dominant female in NXT history as she's been NXT Women's Champion for almost 200 days and is undefeated in NXT. Then, you have American wrestlers who made big splashes in Japan who've been major forces on the main roster; Gallows & Anderson have been top contenders for the tag titles for months and, at some point, they'll most likely win said titles, AJ Styles is the current WWE World Champion and has been involved in some genuine classics this year. WWE also seems to be on the verge of signing Kota Ibushi to some sort of deal and I think it's a matter of time before they offer him a deal in which he only works TV tapings and ppvs.

On top of all that, NXT has grown with very little help from Itami. It's not his fault, of course, as injuries can happen at any given time to anybody. While he's only 35 years old, you have to wonder if itami's body just isn't able to go and endure as it once did and suffering another significant injury that's likely to put him on the shelf for at least 6 months may well earn him the distinctive label of being injury prone.

I think when he comes back, they might want to just rush him to the main roster in a sink or swim kind of way. He's a huge star in Japan and a very talented guy but man is he shit out of luck. They can't even depend on him being the face of NXT because he can't stay healthy there whether it's his fault or not. Either release him or bring him back straight to SmackDown and get as much mileage out of him.

I feel really bad for Itami. This injury is very bad timing and I cannot help but wonder if he will ever make it in the WWE. He missed out on a big push the first time and had barely even made it back before this one has occurred. By the time he returns, perhaps Shinsuke will have made it to the main roster and Itami could get a final chance at that big push in NXT although it may be too late by then. I hope he's able to return. He deserves a shot at the main roster in the long term, however multiple injuries before pushes may have damaged his odds of getting another big push. If he doesn't get released soon (hoping he doesn't) then his next chance would likely be his last.

Itami will be out of action for just two months, indicating he does not need surgery. He could have been out of action for more than 6 months with surgery.
That's a good news for Hideo himself and his fans too.

Looks like he might be back in December or January.

I guess that he will now remain in WWE. If the time period would've been 6 months, he would've been released.

There are multiple matches I want to see him in like against the likes of Nakamura, Roode and Aries.
