Default Report: Sting & WWE....Again.

Off and on for the past couple of years, there have been people who have been clamoring for WWE & Sting to come together on a deal so that Sting can work in WWE. Sting has enjoyed an historic career in which he's never worked for WWE and that gives him a major distinction among American pro wrestlers. However, it looks as though the talk of Sting joining WWE is starting to rise up again.

According to F4WOnline.com, there's said to be a lot of confidence among WWE officials that Sting will, eventually, be on their roster. The report states that the inclusion of Sting in the World Heavyweight Championship video packages seen on Raw last night were done for a reason. Allegedly, there hasn't been any direct negotiation between the two parties yet, but Sting has sent feelers to WWE about joining.

If WWE has any real interest in using Sting as part of a major money match, such as against The Undertaker at WrestleMania, then the move does need to happen very soon or it's time to simply store the idea in the "what might have been" pile. Sting & Taker turned 54 and 48 years old in March and the wear & tear of the business has taken its toll on them both the past several years, especially when it comes to Taker. Both men have shown that they can still put on great matches, yet it's obvious to anyone watching that they're physically not the same two guys they were 4 or 5 years back.

It'd be an historic moment to see Sting in WWE whether he's a wrestler or not, but if all parties involved want to score some big money from a big money match; then it needs to happen in the relatively near future.

I did find it odd that of all the WCW reigns they could have showed, they used Sting.

As far as interest, it was always there between the two. Even Sting himself said so in an interview a couple years back. But I'll take this report with a grain of salt since it's been in the rumor mill ever since Vince bought WCW.

As far as Taker and Sting. No thanks. These guys are past their prime. Taker needs someone to help carry him through the match. That guy is not Sting. These guys will be winded 10 minutes in.

I'd love to see Sting at WM30, but he needs someone who is going to make HIM look just as good.

He's been nearly signing every year for like 12 years haha. I Do wanna see him and Taker at Mania but i don't think it will happen unfortunately even though Sting himself has said in countless interviews that the one guy he would love to have a match with before he hangs up his boots is Taker at Mania.

Calling this report bogus and complete speculation. Hogan was also used in the early on former champion videos. Where are the rumors of him re-signing with WWE.

If it does happen i doubt it will be as meaningful as it could have been before. Who other than Taker is there for Sting to fight? Seeing him job to Cena or Punk or anyone else would be pointless. HBK and Sting have been friends for years. Would HBK come back just for a chance to fight one last match with Sting? Doubt it. He seems to be taking his WM stipulation seriously unlike other wrestlers who lose retirement matches only to pop up months later in the same company or another wrestling again.

I think some wrestling website writer seen Stings video last night and just decided to start the rumor mill again. If it happens good. If not oh well :/

I agree with you, if he does finally come to WWE it will be soley to fight The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Anything else would be somewhat pointless, although in WWE's eyes, John Cena-Sting or Rock vs. Sting or even Brock Lesnar vs. Sting would back boatloads of money.

I don't think it's ever going to happen but if it does, it should be at Wrestlemania XXX against Undertaker.

Here's an interesting question for everyone to ponder and I'd like to hear some of your responses: If Sting told Vince McMahon, the only way I'll ever wrestle in WWE is if you let me end Undertaker's steak, would Vince do it? I'm going to go with no, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did do it. A younger Sting, maybe he would have said yes to that request but an old sting, probably no.

Is it really "big money" for WWE if Sting comes on board?

WCW was bought by WWE over 12 years ago. Sting has brought no appreciable increase to TNA's viewership or business. A lot of WCW fans who swore off wrestling when WCW died are long gone. They're done with wrestling. A lot of young fans who have come to wrestling since 2001 or were just very young back then have no real sense of who Sting once was, and are more beholden to the stars they've grown up with. A lot of us who did follow WCW, who did enjoy Sting once, and who once waited on pins and needles for Sting to arrive in WWE have long since written him off as the one bonafied star in the industry who, for whatever reasons, never came to WWE. Then there are those fans who are strictly TNA fans, and who would be p.o.'ed and jealous if Sting left TNA. Everyone else in the equation is already watching WWE and already ordering WWE PPVs and buying WWE merch.

Now, Sting might draw a few extra dollars from each of the former groups, the latter is a given, but by my estimation, Sting is not "big money" except for what Vince McMahon would have to spend to get him. I have no doubt that he'll one day go into the WWE Hall of Fame, so economically speaking, it'd be smarter to just wait some years to bring him in in order to do that. By then his nostalgic value will be raised and there will be no illusions of him having a "dream" match that he's no longer physically able to perform as things stand today.

You can do a World title retrospective without using Sting; you CANNOT do a WWF title retrospective without using Hogan. That's the difference.

Jesus Christ, what is WWE's boner about Sting these days? I know he's a damn good wrestler, but if this report has any truth to it, you'd think Sting is the greatest wrestler of all time?

If WWE is going by his hype with the never-ending Sting - Undertaker comparisons (which make no fucking sense whatsoever since Sting and Undertaker are nothing alike, aside from a trench coat), then they're in for a rough time because they'll shed big bucks and it won't pay off.

Come on! You had The Rock's first match in YEARS and the buy rate was only slightly improved. You had his suggested last match the next year and the buy rate was the same. You had Lesnar on the card and it didn't do much. These are WWE guys. Now, somehow, Sting is their saving grace.

A good portion of WWE's fans are children. These children were born in the late 90's or early 2000's. Chances are, unless they know of TNA or have stumbled upon some YouTube videos, that they know NOTHING about Sting, therefore they will not care.

The other portion of WWE's fans are people aware of Sting, but don't quite give a damn since he's never wrestled for the WWE. They know little about him and I doubt they'd mark out if he came to the WWE.

Finally, we have the people who think Sting in WWE is going to be so damn badass. This group consists of people who think it'll be cool and the lovely individuals who will hate Sting, unless he goes to the WWE. Sting TNA is an old fuck who should hang them up, but boy if he ever went to the WWE that fella would be SOO COOOL.

Anyway, I really hope Sting never steps foot in that shit hole. He has absolutely NOTHING to prove. The old argument about Sting never being able to perform for "the big time" is horse-shit since he already performed and headlined for the big-time, AGAINST the big time. The big time was WCW, the opponents were people like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair who are both better and more legendary than The Undertaker ever was or will be.

Any sentimental value for WrestleMania is useless too. The only perk is that you get to perform infront of a HUGE live audience. Other than that, whoever they pitch Sting up against, he'll likely either lose or they'll WWE his persona. You know what I'm talking about. The cool DDP became a fucking stalker and a cheeseball. Booker T became that atrocious King Booker bullshit. Goldberg was spent by the time WWE got to him and when they did they took the most basic, obvious approach. Scott Steiner was bound by WWE's bullshit so he couldn't be Scott Steiner and don't even get me started on WWE's version of the nWo.

Sting will be no different. ESPECIALLY in a creativity deprived WWE as it is just now. All you'll get is a cool debut, sweet special effects and promo videos. Some marks will pop a boner and Sting would go to the WWE for NOTHING.

Sting's better off staying as the ONE guy that made it without going to the WWE. He's a symbol for those guys in TNA to keep busting their ass and know that you don't HAVE to go to the WWE in order to achieve great things and be regarded as a great wrestler. Like it or not, they need that. Any of TNA's top stars going to the WWE will hurt the business. Wrestling needs competition and it needs a bigger TNA. That won't happen if its stars aren't there and clearly the WWE will continue to be boring and to slack so it's up to them.

There's actually a few matches that I would love to see involving Sting in the WWE

Sting v. Chris Jericho

Sting v. Daniel Bryan

Sting v. The Shield (and possibly teaming up with 2 younger stars to get them over)

Sting v. CM Punk

Sting v. Christian

Note: If Sting is in WWE there is no way he is not gonna face either Cena, Taker or HHH in his time there. All 3 of those are money matches regardless of some of their ages. I see a lot of upsides in Sting coming to WWE at this time.

Of course I would love Sting to finally come to the WWE. He is by far the most successful and famous superstar never to have been on the WWE roster at one point. He is a former multiple time World Heavyweight Champion, leading WCW and TNA to the height of their successes.

However, after so long, I feel that Sting's ability to draw has decreased dramatically. I get the legendary status he holds, but there doesn't seem to be a crowd of followers who will only pay to see him. Joining WWE would create a massive buzz, and for a few weeks, it will increase ratings slightly. But, after a while, all that will die down. He will become no more than guys like The Rock and Brock Lesnar.

I will say that Sting, if he goes to the WWE, will be in the money matches. Like I said before, there aren't people that only pay to see him, but when fans here of Sting vs ? in a match in the WWE, buys will go up. Just as it was with The Rock and Brock Lesnar (mind you these guys made it elsewhere outside wrestling, so this may be why they are considered more valuable). Regardless, if Sting joins, he will have top programs. My problem with this though is that Sting can't go anymore. He's had it. Lets all be honest with ourselves. He has past his prime, and you can tell. A match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania has been in popular demand for years. While it would be historic and amazing to see, the match may not go down as well. The Undertaker can still go, but can Sting hold up?

I'm going slightly off track. Regardless of Sting's abilities, he will benefit WWE in some way if he does indeed join. I will say this as well: If Sting does join WWE after he leaves TNA, he won't go back. If he does, it will be one hell of a shock. Also, do not be surprised if other TNA legends follow, for example Kurt Angle. Sting is a symbol for TNA, showing his lack of interest in joining WWE. If he does break this thing he's got going, it may urge others to do so. Just a thought.
