Not saying it happened for sure at WMIX but I dont think the question in my orginal post is so insane like the first few posters claimed.
Good points but I don't think Hogan at WMIX was the same. As I said, there were probably negotiations and compromises. Maybe promises were broken. I just have a hard time believing Hogan said "Give me the belt or I'm not showing up" or anything along those lines. Call him an egomaniac all you want but I don't think Hogan does business that way. He wouldn't want to burn that bridge that leads to Titan Tower.

That is the thing about Hogan, hes smarter then everyone else business wise. Maybe it was the compromise and the story just got exaggerated to forced.

I really believe that the whole Yokozuna title reign was to help build Bret. Yoko was a successful heel and at that time any face who beat him would have been over. But giving the honors to Bret was a great chance to build him up as the face of the company after Hogans departure, which worked IMO.

I do gotta say though, I wish Hulk would have passed the torch to Bret. It was a real shame that he refused to drop the title to Hart. That would have been the most EPIC match of all time if they wrestled each other in their primes with their original gimmicks (not like that stupid match they had in WCW!)

Your thread actually gave me an idea for my first thread when I become eligible to make them! Gonna be about passing the torch!!!

It wasn't to build Bret, the Yokozuna reign was designed to make Luger the big face and the second Hulk Hogan. It's just that they botched Summerslam and by the time it came for Luger's push to Wrestlemania he wasn't over enough and Bret was the next best choice.

In fact even after that Bret wasn't the first choice for the face of the company, it's just that Shawn Michaels never really became a draw in the 90's so they had no choice but to keep putting the belt on Bret.

I've heard that rumour about Hogan saying he wouldn't wrestle at the event unless he was made champion and I think its true. It was a time period where wrestling or namely the wwf wasn't doing quite as well since Hogan had faded a bit from the scene and McMahon thought it might help if Hogan was at the show so if it was going to get Hogan on the show in Vinces mind then champion he may be.

however to answer the question I think Bret Hart would've put yokozuna over and a new challenger would rise to face Yokozuna until Bret Hart could come back.
It would have to be one of the other guys who won at that wrestlemania like, Ramon, Luger, Undertaker, Shawn micheals. One of those.
