The greatest dynasty in the history of sports was the Chicago Bulls from the 90-91 season to the 97-98 season. Over the course of those 8 seasons the Bulls won 6 NBA titles. They went 6 for 6 in seasons that Michael Jordan played the whole way through. In 93-94 he sat out the entire season and playoffs and the Bulls were eliminated in round 2 of the playoffs. In 94-95 he played in just 17 of the 82 regular season games and played in the playoffs but after a near two year layoff he wasnít completely himself and the Bulls lost once again in round 2 of the playoffs. There are a couple main reasons why the Bulls are the greatest dynasty in the history of sports.
The Bulls were a dominant team during their dynasty winning 61 or more games in 5 of the 8 regular seasons, including a 72-10 season in 95-96 which to this day stands as the best ever NBA regular season record. Two of the three seasons they failed to win at least 61 games were the years they were without MJ for most or all of the season. They still won 55 and 47 games respectively in those two seasons. The other season they were under 61 was 92-93 when they won 57 games and won their 3rd NBA title. The Bulls had to win 4 playoff series each time they won the NBA title. With 6 championships that is 24 playoff series. In those 24 series only two of them went to 7 games and ZERO of their NBA Finals series went to 7 games. Not many teams were able to really challenge them and put them on the brink of elimination.
The competition the Bulls faced was top notch. Just to get to the NBA Finals was no easy task. The two seasons prior to the Bulls first NBA title they had made the Eastern Conference Finals both seasons and both times they were eliminated in hard fought series against the eventual champion Detroit Pistons. In the 90-91 season they once again met up with the Pistons, who were going for a three peat, in the East Finals and the Bulls were able to sweep them en route to their first title. They also had to go through other elite teams like the Patrick Ewing led Knicks, Reggie Miller led Pacers, Brad Daugherty/Larry Nance/Mark Price led Cavs, Shaq and Penny led Magic, Alonzo Mourning/Tim Hardaway/Jamal Mashburn led Heat, and I havenít even gotten to their NBA Finals opponents yet. In the Finals they took out Magic and the Lakers, Clyde Drexler and the Trail Blazers, Charles Barkley/Kevin Johnson/Dan Majerle and the Suns, the Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp led Sonics, and the John Stockton and Karl Malone led Jazz. The Bulls dynasty was directly responsible for all time greats like Barkley, Ewing, Miller, Stockton, and Malone not winning NBA Titles in their careers.
