which is the best feud and why in the last 15years?
ok guys lets jump straight into it what do you reckon was the best feud and why?
Bret Hart vs USA
Stone cold Steve Austin vs Triple H
The Rock vs Triple H
John Cena vs Randy Orton
Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
Kurt Angle vs Steve Austin
Mankind vs The Rock
Edge vs Undertaker
Shawn Michaels vs Triple H
for me Im going with The Rock/Triple H feud because their feud started in 1998 and went all the way to 2001 they had 2 out of 3 falls, ladder matches, Iron man matches, NO DQ matches, it was just a beauitful feud
Bret Hart vs USA. The emotion was real.
Austin/Hart brought Stone Cold to main event status. Austins obession with beating Hart was one of my favorite times in Austins carrer. Not to mention the classic WM13 match.
Michaels/Hart is the greatest one on one feud in history. 97 is when it was at its hottest. The promos were as real as can be. I consider this to be the angle that started the attitude era.
Hart started the Hart Foundation, the most underrated stable of all time. The classic flag match raw in Halifax, Heart and Soul: The feud with Taker, Owens first singles title run, Pillman in the WWF, Shamrock in the WWF. Great time to be a wrestling fan.
Although its not on the list my 2nd and 3rd places would go to:
WWF vs Alliance
To me It's Kane and Taker which began in 97 when kane debuted, it was a unique feud and a unique storyline. and the feud continued on and off through the years, they'd clash at times.
Best feud in the last 15years IMO has to be Austin V Rock. Headlined WM three times with each match being as good if not better then the last, plus you have to believe there is some legitimate heat between the two as one is almost never willing to play second fiddle to the other. So to me this is easily Austin v Rock. My number two would be either HHH v Rock or Undertaker v HBK hard to say though.
For me it's Austin vs Mcmahon. It was a feud that sort of defined the attitude era, it certainly helped push Austin to legend status and it made Vince a credible threat to anyone on the roster. I'm sure if it wasn't for his feud with Austin, including the matches they had we wouldn't have seen Vince against, Shane/Hogan/Bret to name a few.
It did the business for them both and it was epic.
Austin Vs Vince
Never before had we seen a Superstar say FU to the boss.
This fued lasted a number of years, It really bought out the best in Stone Cold. I enjoyed it mostly because Vince not being a Full on Pro Wrestler still managed to create a great experience for the viewers.
HHH hit the nail on the head last year when he said something interesting to CM Punk during a Promo. He said "Vince would take a beating , because it was good for Business" Vince's beatings at the hands of Austin really made Austin shine back then.
Other than this fued i really enjoyed the grudge between Sting and Hogan. Hogan had heel turned and was the leader of the nWo. I remember a particular segment when Hogan was in the ring with Nash and other members of the nWo. It was the days of Sting and his Black Trenchcoat, wielding a Black Baseball Bat gimmick. Hogan and Co. were bad mouthing about Sting. Sting entered the ring (Bat in Hand) and tossed the bat to Hogan. The crowd went nuts!
Greatest rivalry of the last 20 years..
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock, no debate! (I'd consider Stone Cold vs Vince)
It was the top two guys, the two most charismatic guys, and they carried the company for years! The fact that they headlined 3 Mania's over a 5 years span is baffling. How many people here would be into three John Cena vs Randy Orton WrestleMania matches? I'm not saying anything bad about Cena or Orton... they're just not at that level. And that's the point. Austin vs Rock was and still is at such a level, that it's been almost a decade since they last met.. and I still get goosebumps when I watch their WrestleMania promo packages. They were bigger than wrestling.
Oh come now. The best feud over the last 15 years has to be Austin vs. Rock.
During the late 90's and early 00's these two men were the absolute best in the business. From talking on the mic and their in ring work. There were no sports entertainers better then these two back then.
Their rivalry was so good that they headlined three different 'Manias together. The first on at 'Mania 15 kind of sucked ass; however, the second and third ones were masterpieces. When they were together, they always entertained and they left us many a great moment between the two.
I honestly think that Austin vs. Rock is the greatest rivalry of all the times.
I know this isn't in your list but personally I think Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho had the best feud of all time... The build, storytelling and execution were spot on. Here's a link that tells the story of their feud:
Well cutting it off at 1997 does force me to ignore Micheals and Hart, as there feud was circling the drain in '97', which is a shame because I think a very strong arguent can be made for the intense and "fourth wall" breaking feud between those two as being one of the best and most heated (not to mention divisive) feuds in wrestling history.
I am also forced to forego the very real hatred that spent two years brewing between Taz and Sabu in ECW. A feud in which the two performers took many blatant liberties with one another and never really even went away until Taz left the company in 1999. Also a shame that I have to leave this one off.
Now if we are asking ourselves what feud has drawn best in the last 15 years, then clearly feuds such as Austin/Rock, Triple H/Foley and HBK/Austin would be front runners in any discussion, but were they really the most well executed, the most intense or the most entertaining feuds of this time period?
Instead of injecting the usual responses I am sure people have already provided, I am going to list a few that may have gone a bit under the radar.
1. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar (2003)
Clearly not the biggest draw ever, but it pitted two of the greatest pure
wrestlers ever in a lengthy feud that culminated with an absolute in ring
classic at Wrestlemania (botched shooting star press notwithstanding).
2. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio (2010)
This feud gave you everything in the way of tension building and in ring
performance. Punk was at the heaight of his Straight edge messiah
and Rey was the perfect unassuming target. I still remember that show
when Punk forced Mysterio to flee the ring for the sake of his family,
ending with Punk reciting the most haunting rendition of "Happy Birthday"
3. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho (2008)
Two of the best ever gave us something special for about six months
that year. Jericho actually carried the feud for me because of the way
he completely changed himself to not become that typical "cool" heel that plagues wrestling today, but to become a man who would be universally
despised and disdained, the way a heel should be. The in ring work is obvious with these two, but the outside the ring work really made this feud special to me.
