Ok so we all know that Trish Stratus is the record setting 7-time womans champion. Ok so do you think Mickie James could beat her record she already has 5 title regins if you count the divas title reign, and she doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. She is my favorite diva in the WWE today and I think she can do it. What do you guys think. If you don't think she can tell me who you think can beat her record or if you think her record will never be beaten.

This is something I've wondered about recently. Both of these instances were controversial and were complete swerves to many fans. And both left lasting impressions on the respective promotions. I'll make my case for both and let you decide which has had the more lasting effect.

The Fingerpoke of Doom

I'll give some background on this since this is lesser known than the Montreal Screwjob. This was a change of the guard so to speak. Basically, the NWO had ran its course and were split up into the Wolfpac and Black and White. Nash led the Wolfpac and Hogan was the leader of Black and White. A tease was done to feud Nash with Hogan, which many fans salivated at because it meant the end of a burned out faction and the beginning of a legit power struggle backstage. Mind you, Nash is the World Heavyweight Champion after ending Goldberg's streak at Starrcade. This is in 1999...two years before WCW's demise. This took place on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro and many believe this to be the turning point in the Monday Night Wars. It was in front of a sold out Georgia Dome crowd of nearly 40,000 people. Many expected a rematch with Goldberg and Nash...what we got was an infamous part of wrestling lore. Goldberg was nowhere to be found due to an angle where he was arrested for stalking Miss Elizabeth. Was actually supposed to be rape, but Goldberg wanted NO part of that. So instead of getting Goldberg facing Nash in the Georgia Dome, we get a Hogan/Nash match due to Hogan's heat with Nash. Hogan was also 'retired' at this point for nearly two months. We get the match...and they circle the ring, with Hogan poking Nash in the chest, Nash going down to the mat, and Hogan pinning Nash for the WHC. In essence, this led to the downfall of Nitro with the show only cracking 5.0 twice the remaining time Nitro was on the air.

The Montreal Screwjob

I'm not going into much detail on what happened here because it's so widely known, it's nearly memorized by the majority of wrestling fans. A brief synopsis will do. This took place at WWF's Survivor Series in 1997. The background is Hart is WWE Champion, but is weighing the option of taking a huge contract with WCW. Hart is still contracted with the WWF and even signed a 20 year deal to stay with the Federation for the rest of his career. His match was against HBK Shawn Michaels. Both Hart and Michaels hate each other due to some legit heat caused by Michaels stirring shit about Hart's affair with Sunny (Tammy Sytch). Hart was adamant about not dropping the belt to HBK, but Vince wanted the belt off of Hart so there was no chance the Hitman would take the belt to WCW. The match happens, Hart thinks he wins the match, Vince, Pat Patterson, HBK and HHH know otherwise. The rest is in that picture above. Hart goes off on Vince and naked punches Vince in the dressing room, breaking his jaw and ankle in the process. True story. And in that, we get the birth of Mr. McMahon, the heel character, and the cockiness of HBK is brought to life in an even brighter picture.

So there you go. What has had the longer lasting effect? The Fingerpoke or the Screwjob?

After the announcement of Hogan coming to TNA, even though he hasn't arrived yet, I have been looking at the ratings to see if there was any significant pick up in interest. The last I saw they got a 1.1. I know it's early, but this isn't the first time TNA has tried to do something big and got absolutely no change. (Let's not get into semantics....even if they got a little change, it wasn't enough of a change to call them mainstream or a threat to WWE) By big things I mean signing Kurt Angle, Sting, and in my opinion, creating the Main Event Mafia. So I've had a bad feeling lately that no matter what TNA does, they will not crack a 2.0 ever. So while watching Impact last night I tried to figure out why, and I did.

TNA will never stand a chance against the WWE because of the fans/presentation combination. Let me elaborate. TNA's presentation is that of a mainstream interior inside of a low rate exterior. This has been criticized plenty of times, about how they should either get rid of the six sided ring or they should move to bigger arenas. But that's not neccesarily true. I mean, think back to the original ECW. IF the original ECW had a steady long term deal on Spike TV, and had the creative freedom TNA has, and if ECW had the same rabid fans they had, NO MATTER HOW SMALL the arena, ECW would have got in WWE's ass. So it's not neccesarily the size of the impact zone, it's the fans. There is not enough enthusiasm and there is not enough noise from the fans. Now granted, this most likely would be fixed with a bigger arena, but I think ECW proved that it's possible to have huge electricity in a small building if the fans are passionate enough, and the TNA fans are not. How many attacks, swerves, great matches, entrances, etc. have we seen in TNA only to get a mediocre reception from the fans?

Here's my point. It doesn't matter that they got Hogan, it doesn't even matter how they use Hogan if the fans don't step it up BIG TIME....OR move to a bigger arena. Either or. Because if you tune in, and you're a casual and/or shallow fan, and you see the fans acting laid back and luke warm with the occasional "This is Awesome" or "TNA" chant, that won't be enough to bring them in. Picture WCW without HUGE heat for the nWo or huge pops for Goldberg and Sting. Or WWE without huge pops when Austin stunned McMahon. It wouldn't have mattered. The fans, like anything else made the nWo a big deal and therefore made WCW a big deal. The fans made Austin/McMahon epic through their reactions. But back to WCW...it wasn't made a competitor to WWE not just through word of mouth, but from how over the talent were IN THE ARENAS. And I think it's safe to say, that IN THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE....TNA will not have that.

My opinion.....move to bigger arenas and then hopefully in a couple years, maybe sooner, the fans will be rabid. But wrestling is a business where if the fans aren't hot, people will not feel the electricity. At the risk of beating my point to death....imagine Hogan coming out in the 80s to the reaction that AJ Styles or even Sting gets in TNA.....wouldn't have been as big a deal would it? Imagine the Hogan third man swerve happening in TNA.....how loud and stunned would the crowd really act? Imagine Austin giving McMahon the first ever stunner in the Impact Zone....a few "oohhs" would be heard, but you wouldn't feel history in the air. Bottom line, TNA's fan enthusiasm sucks. The reasons can be debated, but when you watch the program, all that matters is, they don't make the program better. AND WITHOUT FANS THAT MAKE THE PROGRAM BETTER, TNA WILL NEVER COMPETE AGAINST WWE (Even though I think TNA is better right now)

Discuss.

This is the 4th of my series of music-related threads. If you're not a fan of rap, then you might not like this thread at all, but that only holds true to some people. Jay-Z is one of those people that I've noticed people absolutely hate him, or absolutely love him. I'm more on the fence, since I think he's a bit overrated in some sorts, however I do like a lot of his songs.

Anyway... not many people can say that during their professional career, they have had a double-digit amount of albums. Jay-Z can, with 11, and most likely and counting. He's now broken the record he had previously held along with Elvis Presley, at 10 apiece. He's one of the most popular and successful hip-hop/rap artists in the game, even at nearly 40 years old, and a prior retirement.

So... what has been your favorite Jay-Z album to date? Please remember to also state why? You can list your favorite song(s) from the album. Whatever. Please... elaborate!

Here's a list of them albums, if you need it...

1. Reasonable Doubt (Released June 25, 1996)
5. The Dynasty: Roc La Familia (Released October 31, 2000)
6. The Blueprint (Released September 11, 2001)
7. The Blueprint˛: The Gift & The Curse (Released November 12, 2002)
8. The Black Album (Released November 14, 2003)
9. Kingdom Come (Released November 20, 2006)
10. American Gangster (Released November 6, 2007)
11. The Blueprint 3 (Released Septptember 8, 2009)

I'm going through the Roster now, and see numerous WWE superstars that believe it or not, haven't really done all that much interacting with each other, that I think would work extremely well together.

I'd like to hear which pairings you think would work well on TV together.

The first thing that people always think of is conflict and confrontation. And yes, that may be a possibility, but isn't a necessity. It could very easily be two people who you would like to see come together to form a pair to work together, instead.

Simply put, which WWE superstars would you like to see paired together, that really haven't been to any real degree thus far .... be it through a partnership, love interest, or confrontation .... that you feel are capable of producing outstanding television together. Be sure to tell everyone specifically what type of interaction you would like to see these superstars have, as well.

Don't forget to tell us Why you think they would work well together.

I'll start.

John Cena vs Vince McMahon.

Can someone explain to me why this feud hasn't happened yet, especially given the fact that McMahon certainly isn't getting any younger. These two had one lone match together on Raw a few years back before Wrestlemania, which lasted all but 3 minutes, and the real focal point of that match was Triple H and Shawn Michaels handcuffed to the ring posts watching (programs were Triple H vs Cena and Shawn Michaels vs McMahon at Mania).

Cena can be over-the-top on the mic, and usually is ... but he is remarkable when he is actually being serious.

McMahon is also very over-the-top on the mic.

These two are simply magic waiting to happen, if they come together in a program, given their mic skills. McMahon could certainly do one wrestling match on PPV (albeit with heavy interference), but it would also likely require someone to turn Heel to do McMahon's fighting for him, provided that person isn't Randy Orton (which isn't on good terms with Vince).

Triple H would be a good candidate to turn Heel though.

But Cena vs McMahon is $$$$ just waiting to happen, and for the life of me, I can't imagine why it hasn't taken place yet, especially given the fact that Vince is getting older.

Your turn ....

Over the past few weeks on IMPACT, Mick Foley, whether he's doing a back stage segment, a promo from his office, or in the ring, has been voicing his displeasure on not being well informed on the Hulk Hogan signing. During the segment between Abyss/Foley and Dr.Stevie and Raven, Raven poked fun at Foley for not having the authority to book the match between them. Foley went on to say he didn't need Dixie's authority to book matches.

Now I'm wondering, where might this be going? Foley has mentioned Dixie's name a couple of times already, and week by week he seems more pissed off every time the subject is brought up, whether he's doing a promo or guest commentary with Tenay and Tazz. Then there was that deal made between Nash and Foley last night on IMPACT, where Foley would pay Nash the money he lost from his 2 week suspension, and in return, Nash would give him the down-low on what the Hulkster will do once he arrives in TNA.

It seems to me that the seeds for a major storyline are being quietly planted. I'm also wondering, will Dixie make another appearance on TV to be involved in this potential storyline? Will she have a role in this if it takes place?

This is a new thread I am playing about with. Basically I am going to look at midcard wrestlers that I remember from my years of growing up watching wrestling. Now most of these will probably be from the attitude era, because thats what I remember, but I might try to branch out elsewhere.

Anyway down to business, and todays subject is D'lo Brown:

D'lo debuted in the Nation of Domination and soon became a mainstay in the european title scene, winning it four times in his career. He is also the very first to hold the european and intercontinental titles at the same.

D'lo has also competed in the tag scene, with mark henry, the godfather and, to a lesser extent, in the team Lo down with chaz as his partner and Tiger Ali Singh as their manager.

However D'lo is also known for unfortunately paralyzing Droz from a running sit-down powerbomb which I'm sure has plagued his career because since then he was pretty much resigned to sunday night heat.

I always enjoyed watch D'lo perform with his Lo down frog splash looking great and the funky music, complete with head wiggling.

So as a midcarder, what are your opinions was he worth the watch? or did you switch over?

All comments welcome!
