I don't know if anyone has noticed, but with the obvious absence of A.E. elements - (blood, cursing, nudity) there seems to be far more room to attack people's personal problems behind a mask of kayfabe. I haven't seen more dirty laundry flapping in the wind since honestly, the turn away from the Attitude Era leading into the PG era. :wtf:

1. The attacks on Jeff Hardy and his lifestyle pitfalls :disappointed:
2. HHH finally revealing his real wife is SMH...even though we ALL knew that already. :banghead:

I would like to hear some of the IWC's opinions on the matter.

Well let me say this, and I know I might get slack for it, but I think the dirty laundry has always been there. The problem is the Internet. The Internet is the gateway to anythign and everything you can get your habds on. Back when I can remember during the A.E. all I cared about was WWF/E I didn't care if HHH had married Steph just to get ahead. That idea never crossed my mind until a freind told me to go to a IWC website. To be honest it stunned me to realize what was going on backstage. To sum this all up because I know I kinda rambled on a bit. I think the big boom of the Internet is the reason not the PG era. The promos where they talk about real personal things is because we knew it already by finding out about it online so why not play on it. What is the use of kayfabe if we know Umaga is going to be gone for a month because he got suspeneded? I am new to this and its my opinion.

I don't think anything with Jeff Hardy or Stephanie McMahon has gone further than WWE went with MAtt HArdy, Edge, Lita and Kane.

The Jeff Hardy problems fit so perfectly into CM Punk's character that it would have created questions if he *didn't* go there. We'd have been yelling our own CM Punk-cuts-down-the-drug-addict promos at our TVs.

And I don't think the HHH-Stephanie marriage is dirty laundry. It was inconvenient plot-wise when Stephanie was hated and HHH was a face, but now Stephanie rarely appears so it doesn't really make much difference story-wise. It made sense to bring HHH into the Orton vs McMahon's storyline--again because you couldn't sit there and not ask, "Err, what about Vince's son in law the umpteen time world champion"

They aren't airing dirty laundry just for the Russo-esque sake of it, they're doing it when it would hurt suspension of disbelief to not do it.

For example, they handled Goldust Dustin Rhodes interaction with Cody pretty well--acknowledging the real world brothers, but not making a huge deal of it.
