ECW with an Impressive 0.93 this week. ROHHDnet thinks that's bad.
Obviously the solution is to create ten more tv shows and over saturate the market some more...

Sci-fi probably isn't complaining.

Well I guess replays of Leprechaun don't do to bad either.

I'm pleading ignorance here. I have no idea what that is. All I know is that Sci-fi supposedly gets some of their best numbers from ECW. I know nothing about the network, though. Canada airs it Friday nights on Global.
Seriouly, though... Why WWE chooses to replay Raw on their less watched shows is beyond me. Replay ECW on the higher rated shows, make it seem important. Little things could go a long way.
I shouldn't see a Raw replay... fucking ever, in an ideal world.

how much viewers do Sci Fi get for their other shows?
Esteban Ochocinco
05-13-2009, 08:03 PM
sci-fi averages a 1.0.
ECW on Sci-Fi has gone from averaging in the high to mid 2's, to now falling below a 1, that's not good for so many reasons, particularly the name power of the WWE and it's ability to attract viewers based on it being a WWE Product.

unfortunately it's looking that way for him. Raw's not too far behind with Randy Borton.

Am I allowed to praise Matt Hardy as a draw?

or Mark Henry. When he had the belt, or was in the title picture, ratings were always solid.

I think it's the lack of Hornswoggle to be honest.

I was going to say Hardy leaving for SmackDown left a void in the title picture for a few weeks that put Finlay in the position of top face. I love Finlay, but I could see him not drawing flies to shit.
I don't have the numbers though, so I'm just pissing out of my ass.
Anway, the numbers won't cause me, and shouldn't cause anyone else, to enjoy ECW any less.
Esteban Ochocinco

the lack of creativity and identity is enough to kill ECW.
Seriously, I still fail to see the point in having three different brands of the same exact product. It would be so much better if the three shows were all different in structure and match type.
You get a little bit of differential with Raw and Smackdown, where raw is more about talking and promos, and smackdown focuses on matches, and then what is ECW?
Coco The Monkey

ECW is developmental for Christian, Swagger, Bourne, Kidd, and the stars of tomorrow. I think it's a great platform to introduce the stars of tomorrow. If they can't make it there, don't even bother putting them on the big boy shows. Plus, it's a great compliment to SmackDown as a wrestling show.
ECW really needs to be tagged as "Tomorrow's Wrestling Today"
Punk would be the model of how to use the ECW brand.
But I know I'm nowhere near in the majority on loving ECW. Which sucks as it's often the best booked WWE of the week.

I don't mind seeing the kids getting their tv time, no problem with that whatsoever, but it looks like there's a lot of people that don't want to see it.
Coco The Monkey

If WWE likes having that time for the new guys and Sci-fi doesn't mind the numbers, I can't imagine the small audience it draws being a cause for major concern at the Titan Towers. Just my take.

eventually it's going to affect the bottomline though. When it comes time to either renew the contract (which Sci-Fi might not be complaining now), but if the WWE goes back to Sci-Fi, expected the same deal they got when say they were pulling in a 1.5 or so, and then come back with around 1.0's, and sci fi low balls them, then it's a problem. If advertisers say, hey, why am I paying top dollar for this when you were getting double the viewers a year ago, then it's a problem. It's a trickle down effect.
Lil Wes

That's why they should have added a established guy or two on there. Christian's been gone for 4 years, I didn't expect him to be able to come in and carry the brand that quickly on his own. The fanbase has changed a shitload since he was last there.
I've said that fuckwit Jeff Hardy was the perfect face for ECW for along time now. He's popular, but sucks too much ass, fails to deliver and is always a risk to be on the bigger shows. Was a perfect fit IMO.

Argreed. But at the same time, I'm sure the mentality is out there that it's still better than getting no money and canning ECW. Then again, Vince and co. could go and blame the ECW name itself for being a turn-off or they could blame Barackonomics. I'm guessing production costs for ECW aren't crazy since they don't travel as their own brand, so for how little it costs to produce I imagine any profit is enough for them.
Things aren't perfect, or good, by any means. But I don't seem them bending over backwards to fix ECW.

Honestly, I like the idea of ECW as a breeding ground for the stars of tomorrow. I can't help but feel, however, the ratings might improve if it went back to more of a hardcore feel. Not the entire show, but booking half of it around some more hardcore matches and angles might help.

Let's see the Christian marks spin this one. He's an ok wrestler, somewhat above average talker, and looks generic. Also he fails as a ratings draw. Oh yeah definitely the best in the world.

NBA playoffs would be your big thing, but I wouldn't think they would do that much damage. Baseball season but it's nothing special right now. NHL playoffs maybe, but their network isn't big enough to cause that much damage.

Not to mention the country that REALLY cares about the NHL doesn't get ECW on Tuesdays.

half of it? so, one match per week then?
Turn ECW HEEL!!!
It's the solution for everything. Remember? Have a rash? TURN IT HEEL!
Have a bad relationship? TURN HEEL!
Want that toy you can't have? TURN HEEL!...and throw toys out of the crib like NorCal does.
So TURN HEEL! and things will get better.
What?

What do they expect really? When the Main Event is a "Peep Show", you have a fucking problem on your hands.

This is the most sensible answer i've read so far. I can remember a number of Raw's and SD's i wouldn't have watched if i'd known the last 15 minutes would be nothing but a talk segment.
Blaming Christian's drawing power is pretty stupid too. You could easily say the same thing about Swagger. Last month they spent 3 weeks hyping up a new #1 contender, with 1 week of Christian and Swagger talking. Since then it's still just been Swagger and Christain with the odd tag partner here and there. So if the two guys in your ME are doing exactly what the same as before, why would you keep watching?
Don't hate the players, hate the game.
Rusty
05-14-2009, 09:54 AM
Exactly, the feud is lacking something. It's just basically Swagger crying about how "Christian cheated", even though he won the Title the exact same way as Swagger did. And Christian hates Swagger because... the WWE hasn't given us a reason for that yet. He's just there because he's the champion.
Sure, the match on the pay per view looks interesting, but does a talk show interest people? Blaming one wrestler is just silly, it's the overall booking of the show that's to blame.
