View Full Version : Could WWE Ever Become WWF Again?
Do you ever think that Vince could purchase the rights to the WWF name again from the World Wildlife Fund? I mean i know they lost the naming rights a while back. If there is a way could you please explain...

He might be able to change it back to the WWWF, World Wide Wrestling Federation.
If not, I don't think so.
I don't think it really matters that much anyway. That's why Vince didn't really fight to keep the name. It would've cost way too much money, and too much time for something that won't really affect the product.
I don't really see why people are still so up in arms over Vince "getting the F out", and becoming the WWE.
Vince has always called it Entertainment, anyway.

he could buy it back any time he chooses, they will never sell though, thats the problem. He will never be allowed to use it as long as they continue to do so. So basically no, it will probably never go back to WWF. I mean he didn't even try to buy it back for the dvds that use attitude era matches, instead we are stuck w/ blurs throughout.

Well, if you would have read the posts from yesterday on damn near the exact same topic, you would realize that the answer is no. Vince has no rights to the acronym, and quite frankly, doesnt really need the WWF letters anyways, WWE is recognized by everyone now just the same and he doesnt have to have legal battles for the rest of his life just to keep those letters. The crazy amount of money it would cost him to go back to WWF would be pointless and better spent on promotion/merchandising/Y2J/MVP etc.

I don't know why he would do such a thing. He spent tons of cash to make the WWE brand a household name, why should he change it ? Personally, if I was Vince, I'd change WWE into WCW, since I already own that name, then rename RAW into Nitro, and Smackdown! to Thunder...just to mess with people.

He might be able to, but I don't want him to.
When I hear WWF, I think old. The WWE currently is with new stars, new storylines, etc. But if it changes to WWF, I automatically think its old, unrealistic, and I might now even watch it.
I know, If Vince read this he knew he shouldn't do it because SK Punk said he won't watch WWE anymore. lol

i'm not bashing you(rh23) or anything but i think it would make no difference in changing the name. my thoughts is that it wouldn't work because i think the WWF(world wildlife fund) is in a broader category when it comes to popularity so i don't think they'l give up their name.

i forgot to mention that vince should also change the product to say, umm...old wwf??i mean, if he wants more $$, ratings, and so on, i guess she should bring back the old wwf...knowing that nowadays PG is important even though there are horrible shows out there, i think old wwf wouldn't be that bad

The WWF was also Doink the Clown, Bastion Booger, and the Gobbley Gooker.
You wanna go back to that?
The attitude era was 4 or 5 years out of decades of the WWE.
Wrestling moves in cycles. You wanna tell me that what happened at the end of Raw last night was kid friendly?
Just because they don't say ass or bitch every 10 seconds, and the Divas don't show their tits every time they come out doesn't mean the WWE isn't grown up.
