View Full Version : Why are people so eager...

To see CM Punk cash in his Money in the Bank Briefcase and LOSE his chance at winning at World Heavyweight Title?
I mean seriously, in every second thread some smark mentions how this will be the first year someone cashes in and loses and all this other bullshit that defies logic. I suppose seeing Edge's 9th World Title reign is more interesting  CM Punk is the future, this is HIS year. His time is now dammit. Why waste a great opportunity to push him to the top, only to see Edge in the title picture AGAIN. But more importantly, why make the Money in the Bank match at Wrestlemania look pointless?
I'm not saying Punk should cash in at Judgment Day because that's too predictable in my opinion. Have him win the title in November or something like that. I want him to actually hold onto that Briefcase for a while, just like Edge did in 2006. It ended up benefitting Edge in the long run, and I think it could do wonders for Punk as well. But of course, he actually has to be booked like a credible champion for this to work.

my favorite is every one's complaints about Cena and Triple H hogging the ME scene...
and who the fuck have the heels in the ME scene been for the last 100 years? Edge, Orton and....oh wait...

Looks like they're going to build up Punk this time. I've read that he defeats Edge on Smackdown, he's currently having a conversation with the two top heels in the company.
He's also having a feud with Umaga. He should lose the first match of that feud then win the rest. It worked for Jeff Hardy.
In a couple of months it looks like Punk will be a serious player. Unless they bored of him that is.

Oh tell me about it. I've been saying that for the past 6 months. But NorCal, Cena and Triple H aren't cool you see, they don't attack people, hunt down their families, injure superstars, diss the crowd and more importantly, they are soooo boring!!!
So they are much more capable than seeing Cena and HHH in the Title Picture.
Anyone that agrees with this post is a fucking idiot.

Pretty sure Triple H went to Ortons house, uninvited.

That wasn't cool though Jake. Orton got attacked!

they're eager because fans today have the attention span of a fly. Back in the days of the old codgers like Norcal and myself, the buildup for something like this was six months max. Take MVP for instance on Monday. This is how I would have booked his angle with Orton.
MVP comes out and says his speech, but he gets Rhodes that night or DiBiase, then the other the next week, going over both cleanly. The next week, maybe he wins a handicap or beats both in singles matches to get a title shot at Orton at JD. MVP gets a long match, maybe 25 minutes or so, and of course loses, but gets put over in the process. This gains the following: MVP looks great, gets a tryout in the main event, Orton beats someone he is supposed to beat and looks good doing it, Batista vs. Orton gets a longer build and can be saved for a bigger show.
What are the downsides to this? I can't think of any, other than JD isn't a major event now. That's the issue with WWE: everything has to trump last month. I've long since supported the idea of having A PPVs and B PPVs. Drop the price say ten dollars and have slightly smaller main events.

But WHY would the WWE make Punk lose his chance at winning the World Title? He's got a really good chance of succeeding this time around as a legitimate main eventer.

One of KB's wrestling thesies: if you didn't get famous in WWE, Vince doesn't like you.

There's going to be a big injury on Smackdown this year, just like there is every year. I can see it. Then they'll be crying out for putting the belt on Punk.

That's a very solid possibility. However, if Punk is crushed until then, it's more work on WWE's part.

It would be logical, but again, Kane and Umaga are Vince creations, and therefore would likely be put over Punk.

Exactly. They should actually have him win some pay per view matches until then.

More power to you if you like Punk, but I have never been a fan of the guy ever since he cashed in his briefcase last year to take the WHC from Edge. Seriously, I don't think I have ever seen so many people make up excuses for the tepid response Punk has so far gotten since his upper mid-card/main-event push began. He had the excuse of poor booking during his reign as the WHC, but, ever since then, Punk's failure to get over has been a Punk problem, not a WWE problem.
I am still at a loss as to why they would give him the MITB briefcase yet again. You can't really pardon him with the excuse of experience, as he has done nothing but flounder so far. Also, you can't give pardon him with excuse of reliability or ambition, as you had MVP and Christian in this year's MITB match, two wrestlers who, to the best of my knowledge, have always been professional and who are more than ready for a run at the top.
So, in the end, I am eager to see Punk cash in his briefcase and lose to Edge. Have Punk roam Smackdown!'s mid-card for a bit before testing him out again.

Punk needs to turn heel, he's a better heal than face. Secondly it's pointless ending the Money In The Bank gimmick so soon after Wrestlemania, someone can get months of mileage being Mr. Money In The Bank or whatever, why waste a hook that could be teased for almost a year. Late summer/early Autumn, that's soon enough.
punk is a joke, he is boring and his gimmick is lame and stupid.
I hope he loses his match or the case and goes into mid card where i won't care.

There's nothing lame about his gimmick. What's lame is how WWE don't use it more.

Nobody really has a gimmick any more.

Indeed they can. It's a shame that they've only done that once in the four years they've been doing it.
I would have liked to have seen how they used Kennedy when he won it, because originally he announced he was going to cash his MITB in at WM24, so we'd have had the whole year, knowing exactly when he would get his title shot. I just wonder how WWE would have played that out.
But yeah, immediately they've started using Punk poorly on TV, and not being a Punk fan anyway, i shan't get my hopes up. I'd want him to cash in and lose at JD so we don't have to talk about it anymore.
