but Orton is the new People's Champ. I know people will hate for it, but oh well. A lot of people are pissed that he didn't win here. He should have won, but of course Orton is the one guy HHH won't lose clean to. Ok, he might not be the People Champ, but at least the Internet Community Champ. Even though, I think he is the new People's Champ, which isn't the WWE title, but still pretty good.

Your thoughts.

I would have to agree with you.....to an extent. The only guy I think actually rivals Orton in popularity would have to be John Cena. That guy would probably be the better representative for the people but for the online community it does appear to clearly be Randy Orton.

Good call. Everyone wanted Orton to go over here. They must be using him as exactly that too, they might just view him as being better chasing the belt, or preferring to make his point rather than winning. He's basically crapped matches away recently to punt guys in the head. Reminds me of SCSA and the original People's Champ, the Rock.

Again, good call.

Why? Why is Orton the new "People's Champ"?

I'm serious here. Why should he be the next big thing in the business? Why should the audience back this guy ahead of any other?

And why on earth should Orton have gone over at Mania? After all of the despicable acts he did to HHH's family, why should Orton have gone over one of the company's top faces at Mania of all places?

All I can say is watch the Main Event at WrestleMania 17 and then watch the main even at Wrestlemania 25 and you will see and hear why I disagree with this.

I think he is because we all can relate to him. We all have that one person we want to destroy. Also, he is honest(except for the IED thing) he tells things as it is. Also, many of us have that one person we can't beat, that drives us insane. Also, many of us wanted to see him win and imo HHH didn't get a great pop for winning, hell Cena got better. That is just me.

While Orton has always had that IWC support i'd really think that Jeff Hardy is the "new peoples champion". Probably because he has been suspended twice and isn't quite Vince's cup of tea but he was just so popular with fans that they had to give him the championship and take him into the main event.

*cough* Wrestlemania 16 *cough*

Anyway, Orton isn't the new people's champion simply because it's not the fans that drive him. The fans pumped Rock full of adrenaline and he did it for them, same with the Austin, same with Hogan, same with Hart, same with every fan representing champion since the start of wrestling.

Orton doesn't fit that mould at all. He's got his pissed-off, almost paranoid persona. If he turns face he'd be the mysterious, quiet face, not the loud people pleasing face that usually comes from being a people's champion.

Sorry – Cena is the new "Peoples Champ".

Orton and Cena however are the face of the WWE industry for many many years to come. There's a reason Orton signed that like 15-year deal.

Everyone in the company understood that no one – and I mean no one – can draw heat the way Randy Orton does. He's an absolute natural.

Heyman hit the nail on the head. "He's broken new ground. He's given us a different perspective...Orton is the head of the class...We've entered the Golden Age of Heels, and while this golden age features some very diverse performers playing even more diverse characters, Randy Orton has punted his competition right in the head. He's got the Edge."

I agree that Cena or even Jeff Hardy are the "people's champion" because even though the IWC loves Orton, it still does not make up the majority of people in the audience that go ape shit for Cena and Hardy. Cena gets his boos but he has that personality that drives kids towards him.
Seriously, can you see a kid wanting to be Orton? What is he going to do? Punt of Doom his dog when he is eating puppy chow? A kid can see themselves in Cena or even Hardy, they are two extremes personality wise but they have that charm that people are drawn to. Hardy has that almost Rey Mysterio (who is definitely the kid's and Latino champ)quality where he is the underdog but makes up for it with flashy moves and interesting ring attire. Orton has his IWC fanbase because he is the anti-everything right now and the IWC eats that up it seems.
I don't know, I don't see Orton as a People's Champ at all.

Orton is not the new people's champ. Orton is the new Stone Cold.

Lets think about this for a second, Orton is a rebel and is against the McMahons..Although Stone Cold had beef with Vince and only Vince, Orton has isssues with the McMahon family for not following things his way. Trips is only involved cause of Steph, so im gonna consider him as a minor contender..if Triple H was never married to Stephanie, this would be McMahon v Orton all the way..

The only main difference between Austin/McMahon and Orton/Mcmahon is switched roles: Orton's the heel, McMahon's the face, but it sure as hell didnt look that way on Monday night, when there were more cheers for Orton and a bit of heat on Vince McMahon
