For this thread, I thought we should discuss the best smaller guys in the business today and of all time. Please explain your choice and maybe even a runner up to your very own coveted trophy of best small wrestler
I think the bar should be set to under the 6 foot mark. It seems like a solid benchmark. I think Jericho is just on 6 ft. But he puts lifts in his shoes I believe.
Some people's favourites may include: Rey Mysterio
Eddie Guerrero
Max Mini
And we're off!

I never really rated Mysterio in all honesty. Plus, I think the only reason he won the title was so that the WWE could play off the death of Eddie. Eddie was different though. A great competitor who wasn't just as agile as a lightweight, he was powerful like a heavyweight. Other than the two of them, I really can't think of anyone I would put in Eddie's league.
I'd say Benoit as well, I'm pretty sure he's like 5"10, no bigger than HBK anyway. Benoit's back catalouge of matches speaks for itself, see his matches vs Angle and the HHH/HBK matches to see why he's rated so highly.

HBK is actually listed at 6'1"
This is a tough question to answer, there are so many guys that are 6' and under that could be considered. Here is a short list (not in any order):
RVD (6')
Flair (6')
Owen Hart (5'10")
Dean Malenko (5'10")
Thomas "Dynamite Kid" Billington (5'8")
Where do you even start?
For me it would have to be;
1) Chris Benoit...what a terrific wrestler, whilst I don't agree on the last actions of his life he entertained me in the ring, and played with the big boys for most of his career.

My favorite little guy is Jamie Noble. His in-ring work is terrific and he's one of the only mid-carders I've ever seen who is given mic time. When he was involved in a program with Chuck Palumbo, Jamie even had some interviews in which he was allowed to ad lib his comments, in the same manner as the Rock. He has a sharp, inventive mind and will probably become a valuable addition to the front-office when his wrestling days are over.
I loved that "trailer couple" program he ran with Nidia. He posed as her boyfriend and I remember thinking at the time that anyone who can coax an interesting program out of her must have plenty on the ball himself.

I would actually be a little surprised if Chris Benoit was 5'10. I hung out with him a few times about a decade ago, and he was pretty small. Awesome physique, but I'm only 6'1 or so and I pretty much dwarfed him.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of smaller wrestlers unless they have a killer physique, or have a truly dominant and aggressive style that allows them to look competitive.
Somebody mentioned the Noble/Palumbo feud which is one that I thought was absolutely ridiculous. The size difference was simply wayyyy too much for Noble to look like a credible threat.
I prefer having the distinction between the cruiser weights and the heavy weights. Another Rey Mysterio David vs Goliath match is not what I call interesting.
If I were to pick my favorite smaller wrestler it would be Benoit. The man had such an awesome aggressive style that he made his matches against much bigger opponents look credible.
HBK is actually listed at 6'1"
This has always puzzled me...I mean I know everyone is bileld as taller than they really are, but HBK's clearly not taller than 6". The Legends ofWrestlemania website even bills him as taller than Bret Hart, which I never thought was the case? The guy's barely an inch taller than Jericho, he's definetly eligilbe for this thread I'd say.

I'm still stuck on this one.....
X-Pac/1-2-3 kid/Syxx...
GREAT talent. He has been in the business for MANY MANY years. He has taken many bumps/bruises/broken bones and he still gave back to the industry. Even after he was unprofessionally fired by Bytchoff back in WCW he returned to WWE to join DX. After that stint was over he won several championships, and still proved that he could fly when needed but that his martial arts background could also come into play at any given time.
I still don't know why people say X-Pac Sucks

Jericho is 5ft 10, he confirmed in his book.
HBK must be 5ft 10 too.
I think Jericho said Benoit was 5ft 8 in his book and Eddie was 5ft 6.
Rey Mysterio is 5ft 3.
Just to throw another name in the hat, Ricky Steamboat was 5ft 10. Jerocho idolised him as a kid because he thought 'if Ricky can be succesful at that height so can I'.
But I'd give it to HBK or Jericho.

It seems we are all undicided on the heights of some individuals but if HBK qualifies I give it to him. But I don't think were ever gonna see another outpouring of emotion for anybody else like we did when we lost Eddie Guerrero, the reason for that is that he was just incredible, he could do anything in that ring or out of it, in my personal opinion not having Eddie around anymore has left the WWE a huge void that will never be filled and for that he is my pick for best little man of all time.
Benoit and Dean Malenko are close second for me though.

The best little man of all time is Rey Mysterio. No little man has ever been so over with a crowd and even this day and age he can put on a few good matches a year. All the other names that have been thrown around on this post absolutely are giants compared to him. Yes I am a Mysterio Fan but I'm definitely not crazy about him. He is truly the only "little man" (he's bordering Midget). Benoit, Guerrero and Malenko are very good wrestlers and yes they were considered small, but they all fought with styles that dictate to bigger guys styles. Rey cannot pull german Suplexes or the technical moves that they can. His body isn't big enough. His size only allows him to do the Lucha type moves. Another small guy no one has mentioned is :robvandam:

Today - Rey Mysterio, easily. He might be the most underrated wrestler there is, seeing as how so many dont like him, but yet cant even begin to give a reason as to why. You will have a tough time finding me a bad Rey Mysterio match. Uninspiring?? Yes, at times, but he is never bad.
All Time - I dont even think its arguable that the answer is Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero. Both guys were two of the best pure wrestlers and preformers of all time, and were both given title runs based upon their ability and popularity, not the death of a friend. Which in my opinion, makes them edge out Mysterio in the all time conversation.

ok, well i read through everyone's replies when a name came to me that i hadn't seen...
AJ Styles
He started as a mid-card no name independent in TNA, and look at him now. One of the top 10 guys in TNA, without a doubt. He is one of the reasons I watch TNA on a weekly basis.
and i looked on Wikipedia to check, and he is 5 foot 10 inches tall... so he qualifies for the dscussion.

Im sorry to say i must disagree. Sure Rey was great 10 years ago and put on a great performance at No Way Out. He might even still be mildy entertaining to that 7 year old inside of you.
But there is no way he's the best today. By far and away, Hornswoggle is the most over and devastating smaller wrestler on the roster. How would you like a flesh nugget beating you with a wooden stick? Having been to a daycare center, i can assure you it is less than desirable. Hornswoggle and Finlay, TAG TEAM CHAMPS 09
