The Shocky Twist. If you follow my tournaments long enough, I always put a little twist. At the beginning, a number was drawn randomly in the bottom half of the bracket to be determined as a Wild Card. This Wild Card, a chance for the people that didn't get to put a wrestler in, to indeed, put a wrestler in.
So if you are a mod that didn't make a list, or you didn't contribute a list of 100 wrestlers, this is your chance to politic and put the last wrestler of the tournament into the tournament. What does the winner get, a #36 Seed and a first round match with Verne Gagne in the WCW Region.
You have 48 hours to convince myself and the modstaff on who deserves to be in the tournament.

Don Leo Jonathan.
4 time AWA world heavyweight champion.
Held tag team gold with 20 differed partners.
Wrestling Observer and Pro Wrestling Museum hall of famer.
A 340lb, 6ft6 Mormon giant, who blows every man on Irish's sig away in terms of athletic ability. DLJ holds victories over such superstars as Killer Kowalski, Dory Funk Jr and Andre the Giant. He also successfully pinned Lou Thesz for the second of three falls.
Don Leo Jonathan could fly off the top rope at his hearts inclination. He could perform back flips, cartwheels and somersaults at the drop of a hat. He could nip up, and clothesline an opponent's head off all in one fluid motion. One incidence that sticks in the memory, is of DLJ lifting an opponent onto the turnbuckle, then elevating himself sufficiently to dropkick that man straight into the crowd. Jonathan was literally a miracle of nature.
DLJ for the Wrestlezone tournament.

New Jack
If you want a man that could make a deep run in the tournament it would be New Jack. This mother fucker is crazy. He's actually killed a man before. He seems to have no remorse for the pain he inflicts on peoples bodies, and that's a very good quality to have in the wrestlezone tournament. He could take any wreslter in the tournament. It doesnt matter how big the guy is, he'd just taser him and pin him. Hell, he even threatened to beat our very own Chris Cash's ass.

New Jack is a no talent piece of crap. He makes Tommy Dreamer or Sandman look like Kurt Angle or Bret Hart. He is truly, truly terrible, and makes up for it by maiming his opponents and himself. He really doesn't deserve a place in the tournament.

When talking about Jonathan, a few things to keep in mind:
It was 3 title reigns.
It was the Omaha version of the AWA title. This title was eventually unified with the AWA title. Only a handful of promoters considered this champion to be the real world champion.
The Andre victory was via DQ (although to be fair that's how Andre won the rematch)
He did hold such tag titles, but 18 of them were with one promotion.
Still the best choice though.
so you're picking someone you don't even know...pah!

Since Floyd Mayweather is in, I believe another one time participant should get the nod. He participated in a royal rumble, and in that rumble he eliminated both Hardys by just looking at them, and he scared Kane shitless by offering him money. I give you, Drew Carey.
Maybe not. I don't have the old school knowledge the rest of you do so I won't even try humiliating myself by picking someone else, so I will do my old school tactic of seeing what the popular person says and go along with it... yep, just who I would have picked anyway, the Don Leo guy.

Such prowess with Wikipedia.
To give a slightly more whole perspective on a couple of issues, he did indeed fir the first match by DQ, however I don't think that is overly relevant given that he basically dominated Andre before the bigger man intentionally disqualified himself. (For those interested, the screwey finish damn near caused a riot. The match had been billed as a 'match of the century' encounter between the two most dominant giants in the industry.
Naturally, a lot of people were very angry with Andre (kayfabe being rigidly upheld at the time) so for the second match, DJL wrestled for 20 minutes (with Andre getting the better of it to be fair), then ripped the ring post off of the side of the ring, and proceed to knock Andre silly with it. How that didn't destroy kayfabe is beyond me, but apparently the crowd loved it.
As for the Omaha version of the AWA championship, I would in fact argue that it was in fact the legit title. The NWA got pissy and tried to squash the belt, but as far as history goes, it's a valid world championship. Anyway, if you wiki up the list of title holders, you can clearly see that it was more than just some local territory strap.
You are correct regarding the number however.
As for the tag titles, I have no answer beyond "So?".

There are so many.
I've made my claims elsewhere about the Genius, but I'll do it again here. The Genius/Leaping Lanny Poffo was the first highflyer in North America. As Leaping Lanny, he was a jobber to the stars, but probably one of the most over jobber to the stars ever. The poems he delivered before matches always weent down well.
However, he was greatly improved by his heel turn and transformation into the genius. A wrestling smart arse who thaught he was more intelligent than everyone was a god gimmick, and he garnered a massive heel reaction. He wrestled Hogan, and beat him in a title match by countout. His partnership with Mr. Perfect was a great alliance at the trn of the 80s to the 90s.
He really did keep up with the best of them and is worthy of a wild card. There can't have been many people who beat Hogan in title matches, or who tagged with someone of the quality of Mr. Perfect against Hogan and Ultimate Warrior in a televised main event, but he did. Even if you don't do any research into him, you cannot deny that someone who did that is at least worthy of being in the tournament.

Not true. A wildcard should be somebody who didn't get in, but probably could have done. Goran Ivanisevic went into Wimbledon as a wildcard and won. He was chosen as a former finalist, not someone shit. The wild card playoffs in the NFL are between those teams that just missed out on qualifying conventionally, not between the shit teams. A wild card should go to someone who could get in, and do ok, but didn't qualify.
The term wild card was originally used in card games, but the term has evolved to describe what the Merriam-Webster Dictionary calls "an unknown or unpredictable factor" in any number of domains.

There are so many great wrestlers in the tournament, and much to my surprise, there are a lot of great wrestlers in the tournament who aren't American. But there was one Japanese wrestler left out of this thing, who should, without a doubt, be in it. And his name is Hayabusa. http://www.live4wrestling.com/multimedia/wrestle-emoticons/Hayabusa.gif
I first saw Hayabusa on probably the greatest pay-per-view ECW has ever held and in my opinion, one of the greatest wrestling pay-per-views of all time, in Heat Wave 1998. That night he teamed up with Jinsei Shinzaki (Hakushi in the WWF) and had an absolutely SUPERB match against Rob Van Dam and Sabu. After seeing that, I became a fan of his. I loved his look, and to this day he is the most graceful wrestler I've ever seen. It wasn't until a few years later where I had the means to actually see some more of his stuff, but when I did, he became a favorite of mine and remained one of my favorites to this day.
Every time he performed, he gave it his all. His fucking all, as much as anyone has ever given in the business. Hayabusa has had some of the most dangerous, unbelievably shocking bumps one has ever had in pro wrestling. But the thing about him was, unlike most "Harcore" guys and wrestlers who were known in FWA, the guy could actually go out and have a GREAT match without the "hardcore" aspect involved in the contest. The man really could work in his ass off in any type of match. He was also a great promo cutter, as well (obviously I can't speak Japanese and of course there were no subtitles, but you could just tell from his emotions alone on the microphone that he was damn good at interviews), and had a ton of charisma. He was one of the most over wrestlers Japan has ever had.
Moreover, he had a TREMENDOUS feud against Mr. Gannosuke in FMW. A feud, I might add, that ended in a match with none other than SHAWN MICHAELS as special guest referee. That alone shows how big this feud was in Japan, and to this day it's one of the greatest feuds the country has ever seen.
The fact is that Hayabusa is one of the greatest, most recognizable, and most acclaimed wrestlers to ever come out of Japan and he deserves to be in this tournament. He was an innovator, and carried a company on his back for nearly ten years. The company died when he got injured; that's how much he meant to it. He was also a tough motherfucker in the ring, where it took uncountable amounts of punishment to finish him off. In this tournament, where there are so many great high flyers and foreign wrestlers, it'll be a shame to leave out one of, if not THE, best wrestlers in BOTH of those categories.

Considering the fact that both Dudley Boys are in the tournament, both members of demolition are in the tournament, and Jim Neidhart is the tournament, I believe that Stevie Ray should get the final spot. Harlem Heat is one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history, and I believe that they were a better team then the Dudleys and Demolition. Stevie Ray also did more as a singles competitor then Neidhart and Ax.

Well seriously with most of the wrestlers picked in here should they be picked over Richards? Stevie Ray did shit for Harlem heat. Ok it was a very good tag team but he was too slow in the ring and Booker was always the one that got noticed. The only thing I remember from Ray is that he turned on Booker and didn't deserve to be in the Fall Brawl 2 rings steel cage match. I haven't even heard of most of the others before.

According to Wikipedia...Stevie has had 37 title reigns for various companies....plus he was ranked #93 as in ring performer of 2002. So if you add the 37 + 93 = 130.
Stevie also received an award for worst worked match of the year (such greats as Andre/taker and hogan have it too) which would add 13 points on as it's bad luck.
That gives you ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE.
Stevie Ray also did more as a singles competitor then Neidhart and Ax.
But not as much as Stevie Richards.

Drew Carey > David Arquette. Arquette may have a WCW title to his name, but he was on the end of an ass kicking from DDP, receiving a diamond cutter. Drew Carey was undefeated, no one managed to do a move on him. Need I say again how he removed the Hardy's from just looking at them, as well as mention that he cleverly got himself out of Kane's chokeslam grip (Raven was a figment of your imagination). He would have definitely won the Royal Rumble, and gone on to beat The Rock at WrestleMania had he not remembered he had forgot to pick up his dry cleaning and promptly removed himself from the match.

Purely suggestions for other people, dammit.

Former world champion.
You've seen more Arquette matches than you have Bockwinkel.
You're more entertained by him than you are Bockwinkel.
He was the last great WCW champion.
He'll get people talking.
He's got mainstream credibility. Everybody likes Scream and See Spot Run.
What's more memorable, Booker T as a five time WCW champ, Jeff Jarrett as WCW champ, Vince Russo as WCW champ, Scott Steiner as WCW champ or David Arquette as WCW champ?
I could carry on, but I really don't need to.
Jake, you forgot to mention that it was David Arquette who probably won the WCW title when it was last important. Those other guys, as forgetful as their reigns are, also won the title when it was shit.
David Arquette for #143!

Well, I don't want to influence anybody.
Scream
Gross revenue $173,046,663
I just like to say, this proves David Arquette draws more than The Rock, Hulk Hogan and John Cena. When did those guys ever bring in that amount of money for one event, let alone one of their movies?

I tried to put Trish on my list. Girls not allowed though:(
Who will #143 go against?
If it's not Arquette. It should be Kong or Trish Stratus. Depending on who they're up against popularity could get them through the 1st round.

Jericho should face Arquette at WrestleMania. Proven draw.
David Arquette will be going up against some jobber named "Verne Gagne"? Probably never done much in wrestling.

So if you are a mod that didn't make a list, or you didn't contribute a list of 100 wrestlers, this is your chance to politic and put the last wrestler of the tournament into the tournament. What does the winner get, a #36 Seed and a first round match with Verne Gagne in the WCW Region.
Ah so people who didn't make a list...who made a list?
RVD Gurl, Harthan, Polley, Norcal, Slyfox, CM, Klunderbunker, Justinsayne, FromtheSouth, TDigle, Jake, Mysterio_Fan, Will, Monkey, TM, The Great Milenko, NoFate, Luther, NSL, IC25, Shango, Sam, Shadowmancer, Ricky and Shocky.
Your opinion on this thread is thus made invalid.

You're just angry that Jake makes such a compelling argument.

Hayabusa wins this IMO.
Stevie was on Shockys list...aheadof two former world champions...Hayabusa was not.
Makes me think this one is Stevies...but it is between Stevie, Hayabusa and the Genius. The others were put forth by people who had already submitted a list.

Where's the Pete Rose love?
He's even in the WWE Hall Of Fame, and has appeared at more Wrestlemanias than Arquette.
so erm yeah...Stevie won.
