This is pretty much pointless, but it doesn't hurt finding out. Earl Hebner, Mike Chioda, Tim White, Jimmy Korderas, Chad Patton, Charles Robinson, Brian Hebner, and many others to choose from. My personal fav. is Mike Chioda...he's pretty bad-ass.

Tmmy White, Hes A Pimp. He Was The Ref For 9/10 Of The Godfather Matches, And Always Got Down With Them Hoes.

I would say Mike Chioda gets my nod. Purely because if you look in the days when Earl was top ref and Teddy Long was one, Mike was always the ref that ends up in the main event, only to be taken out and be replaced by Earl.

Examples include:
Triple H vs. Jericho in the title win that never happened
Rock vs. Angle at NWO 01, Big Show cokeslams him
HBK vs. Taker at Ground Zero, gets taken out before the match starts
Taker vs. Triple H WM17, taken out again and sells it for a good 20 mins! lol

He's also the best aggressive ref, Earl would stand up for himself, but he didn't have a tough feel to him

Mike Chioda and Charles Robinson seem to do the best job out of all of them.

Charles Robinson. He's been around forever and occasionaly takes ass-kickings from wrestlers like Jericho and Khali.

Charles Robinson AKA Speedy Ref is a beast. I also like Jack Doan, the ref that always does the divas matches.

Refs shouldn't stand up for themselves, they should be intimidated by the wrestlers like backstage reporters and announcers. Hence the reason Mean Gene was a fuckhead.
