View Full Version : If Sting
Were to join the WWE, which would be huge, who would he feud with? He is sometimes referred to as the biggest wrestler in modern time never to participate in the WWE. There are countless amounts of feuds he can participate in, which would be the best?
Although I once thought that Sting vs The Undertaker would be the best feud, I have now changed my mind and believe a feud with Triple H would be excellent. Two of the biggest guys in professional wrestling in the last 15 years would be able to meet against each other in a feud that could easily headline Wrestlemania. The match could go on for at least 25-28 minutes if both men where in great shape. Really, the build up of two men who are the same size who have been able to dominate their company, one with the baseball bat, one with the sledgehammer would be a huge match that many dream of.

There are so many great possibilities for Sting if he came to the WWE.
The first one I'd like to see would be Sting v. Jericho. Jericho is one of the best heels in the business, and is far bigger now, than he ever was in WCW. Both men can cut good promos, and the matches would have the potential for Match Of The Year. A Submissino Match would be the perfect blowoff, but basically anything with the two of them would be must-see TV.
Sting v. Undertaker is another one I've always wanted to see, but at this point in both of their careers, it probably wouldn't happen anyway. Can they still work well in the ring? Of course. The build-up would be legendary, but in the end, we'd ultimately get two tired 40 or 50-somethings laboring around the ring. 10 years ago, this would be the greatest feud ever.
If Sting still had his original gimmick, where he was much more colorful than black and white, and didn't have 100 pounds of muscle slowing him down, I'd love to see Sting v. Jeff Hardy. Sting's early work is what Hady wishes he could do. The acrobatics of the two of them would be great television, and would put together a great pay per view match. Sting would have to carry the promo end of the feud, but the matches would work out just fine.
Ultimately though, I think the feud we all want to see is Sting v. Triple H. During the Monday Night Wars, they were both on the top of their games, and have only grown since. It wouldn't matter who played the heel or the face, and the storyline would be secondary to the in-ring action. This is the type of match that could headline Wrestlemania, and not one person would bitch and moan about it.

It all depends on how long he'd sign with the company, and when he'd debut. I have a list of individuals I believe Sting would work programs with, all leading up until WrestleMania. Allow me to reveal.
Chris Jericho: It seems everyone who joins the W.W.E. randomly finds themselves in a meaningful opening feud with Chris Jericho. Goldberg did it. I could see Jericho and Sting having a one month feud that would take Sting through a B-rated Pay per view, say Backlash, Sting's debut on W.W.E. ppv.. The feud wouldn't be worth remembering once Sting would evolve within the company, and later find his way forward.
Shawn Michaels: Dispite both of these men deserving a major stage the likes of Summerslam, or WrestleMania, I wouldn't see it being the case. I would see them headlining another B-rated Pay per view, perhaps something the likes of Judgment Day, or One Night Stand.
Sting and Shawn Michaels both have religious backgrounds. I could see the underlining works of a religious angle being brought in to allow them to feud for possibly two matches. Judgment Day, through to One Night Stand.
Ric Flair: Perhaps Sting's greatest rival and deepest opponent throughout the ages. A feud that some could argue started at the Great American Bash. Well I see no reason to not let that tradition continue. Then lead into a rematch at Summerslam, with some type of Horsemen involvement would be great.. but a rematch none the less.
At this point in time, I don't know what Sting could do to fill time.. but something would need to be done to push him from Summerslam, to Survivor Series. So he could then face..
Triple H.: While everyone would argue that The Game would wish to face Sting at WrestleMania, I would hope Mr. McMahon realizes the greatness that would be saving Sting's Mania match for someone different. (more on that later) For this feud, I could see it working in at Survivor Series.
I don't forsee these two having a meaningful feud, because I just don't think they'd work well together. I mean that. I don't know why, I just don't see it.
And finally, Sting's WrestleMania opponent.. Sting, the guy who's had a HUGE career at big time Pay per view's like Starrcade and Bound For Glory.. would take on his W.W.E. equal..
The Undertaker: While I think people are blowing their loads on how great a match-up with these two would be, I'm not that far yet. I honestly think they'd work horrible together. I can't see Taker working well with Sting and his style, but I guess a lot would depend on the setting. The Undertaker works incredibly well at WrestleMania's.. and Sting is viewed by many as his equal on big stage settings. This showdown would be one for the ages, and one I surely hope, wish and desire would happen.

I wanna see Sting debut with the company right after a Wrestlemania, staying with them through the following wrestlemania. Once he debuts, immediatly, you get Randy Orton out to confront him. But instead of attacking him, Orton goes on to tell Sting, what a huge fan of his he was as a kid. There is nothing Orton anted more, than to be like Sting, it's idol worship. For the following months, Orton is always in the background, watching Sting's matches, listening to his promos, backing him up when he needs it. Finally the road to wrestlemania starts. We see Orton and Sting in the ring together. Orton talks about the Icon that is Sting, That if anyone is, Sting is Truly a Legend. But wait, Orton forget to ever formally introduce himself to Sting. He's Randy Orton "Legend Killer". The fight begins and comes to an end, with a fanfuckintastic Wrestlemania match between the two. The way to do it, is drag it out for a year, teasing the Orton/Sting match as long as possible.

This wouldn't make sense for Orton's character, to be like a child seeing his favorite star and always wanting to be around that person, that wouldn't fit well at all.
I like the notion of Orton being Sting's first feuds. Obviously Orton is the legend killer, and Sting is somewhat of a legend, so you already have the groundwork right there. Sting would debut, doing a promo in the ring, and Orton would come out and BAM! There you go, they exchange words, and your on your way to a fantastic feud culminating in Sting getting an RKO. :icon_biggrin:
Another person i'd love for him to feud with in the WWE would be HBK. I think it would be great, and if they had HBK be the heel that would be even better. HBK is still a great performer in the ring, and while his promo's have become somewhat laughable, I think he could bring back that greatness he used to have by being a heel. The match itself could be great, as HBK makes a lot of people look good, and Sting is still pretty decent in the ring.

I think Edge and Sting could have a great feud, but not leading into a Mania or Summerslam. They would be a great feud between those two major ppvs. have it start around Judgement day and end at the GAB

Anyone not said Cena vs Sting, yet? Well I will. It would be a great feud, but dont know about the match. The feud could start with Sting making a big debut on RAW and already stating his intentions on the title, which at that point in time is Cena. Cena then comes out and says that he respects Sting, but his days are all but over and this gets Sting in a outrage and starts brawling with Cena.
The next week in a singles match between Kane and Cena, Sting comes out and helps Kane win and Cena gets pissed off and just starts brawling with Sting on the outside. The next week, Vince comes out and says he wants this sorted out right now and announces a No holds barred for the next PPV to which Cena comes out and says to Sting: 'If you want some, come get some' and Sting comes from the crowd and assaults Cena. Then the two have a tag team match which ends in a DQ because of the two's rivalry.
The Final week before the PPV Sting comes out and says he wants Cena right here, right now because of last weeks events. Cena comes out and enters the ring just to be assaulted by Kane. Sting laughs his way to the back. Later that night Sting has a match with Jeff Hardy (Who makes a special RAW appearance). Sting is about to win but Cena comes out and Fu's Sting which costs Sting the match.
At the PPV the two have a classic 25 minute match which is exciting from the start. Kane intefers in the middle but Cena prevails and beats Sting in a bloody brawl and thus Sting is out of the title picture.

You know with how TNA has become like a reality show in the fact that they just say whatever and beep it out and WWE is going PG. If Sting were healthy and had even 5 years left in his career i could see him maybe going to The E
I would love to see him start with Jericho then move to Hunter then the big one the one i have wanted to see since the first time i turned on WWE him and Michaels

Yeah Sting is 49, becoming 50 in March so unless he wants to someone like Flair in the altter part of his career, I'd say Sting has 1-2 years left in the ring. Anytime more and his is either just a fit person or just a greedy person looking for the money!

Would Sting have to enter the WWE to be inducted into the HOF? Sting coming over to WWE now would be really awesome as he has always been my alltime favorite wrestler although I dont follow him on TNA very much. Steve Borden the man has earned enough respect in the industry to come to the WWE and work with whomever he pleases. I would really like to see him help push some mid-carders needing that extra little push to get to main event status. I for one would love to see Steve in the WWE as they have really toned down the reasons he didnt want to come over in the first place. Let him work a limited schedule over the next 3-5 years, and he would be set, not that he isn't already!:wcw:

If it were to happen I think it would have to be at Mania against Taker. Both wrestlers have this mythic quality about them and have very unique gimmicks that would play off each other rather nicely. Also Sting was one of the cornerstone wrestlers of WCW while Taker has been the cornerstone wrestler for the WWE for over a decade, it just would seem inevitable that these two would meet at the "grandest stage of them all".
With that said I don't think it will ever happen as Sting feels that because he wasn't Vince's creation then Vince will squander the opportunity of having Sting on his roster (something that his stated in interviews over the years). Honestly, I can understand that and although I would love for him to finish his career in the WWE, I hope Sting does what's best for Sting.
