View Full Version : Cena's Longevity

Has anyone else thought about how long Cena will be able to be around? I mean, we all know his determination makes him want be around, but, with the way his HECTIC schedule is, do you think he'll be able to last in the WWE into his 40's, because, frankly, I don't.
Its undeniable that Cena has the most hectic and demanding schedule of arugably any WWE superstar, past or present, especially considering he's a top guy. I mean, he has to perform multiple times a week (Raw, house shows, & PPVs), has to do interviews, autograhp signings, random appearances, photo shoots, make a wish appearances, tv ads, movies, daily workouts and so much more. Even guys like the Rock and Stone Cold had less demanding schedules. So, the question im posing is, do you really think Cena's body will be able to handle the wear and tear of all of this and undoubtedly more in the upcoming years for him to have a long WWE career? He's already had a few decently-serious injuries (the neck and pec injuries come to mind). With this tough schedule and wear and tear it must put upon a human body, how can you not expect a plethora of more injuries, possibly even more serious?
All I'm saying is, I know Cena is super-determined and dedicated, but do you think its physically possible for a human being to continue working this schedule for years and years to come?

His hectic schedule will begin to decrease as time passes. Originally guys like Shawn Michaels, Triple H. and The Undertaker were all hectic workers.. but look where they are now.
John Cena is the face of the entire company for all purposes. So as a result, he unfortunately has placed himself in the role of getting burnt out easily. On that note, I believe some of his most recent "injuries" have also come because of his schedule. So if anything, being hurt, again, might be the best thing for him.
Of course in my personal opinion, I think the reason for putting the titles on others right now is possibly to give John Cena a lighter work-load as well. More superstars are coming into doing movies, and photoshoots, autograph signings, etc.. but Cena will continue to be the overall face.
I truly believe if Cena doesn't get some definate help to be the "Rock" to his "Austin" that he will indeed burnout before we reach WrestleMania 30.

I think you are dead on with the OBW and I thought they were going to move in the Orton as Cena's other guy for a while, but I think it is clear that they brought Edge back because they want Edge and Cena to be the new Austin and Rock and the ones to draw ratings for years to come.
Of course ... throw Orton in that mix and you have strong top three to carry the company IMO.

WWE will protect Cena with everything they've got. They know he's going to become one of the biggest names of all time and they're going to do everything they can to keep him happy. If he wants time off, he'll get time off. I could easily see him getting some control backstage if he wanted it. He's the golden boy of WWE and has been nothing but great for them. When he's a bit older they'll probably turn him into something more like a Michaels or a Taker. He'll be a legend and a special attraction. With that, he could be around another 15-20 years if he wants to be.

im new here and this is my first reply. See, i think he will have to retire in 8-10 years and that may be a little bit off, but i think it will catch up too him because he will always be having to put off these long, and hard matches if he's always going to be the champion the way it is today its harder with the Triple Threats,Hell in the Cells,Elimination Chambers,Royal Rumble, your most likley to be in a hard match and Cenas not injury pron(sp?) he's already had 2 injurys this early(ha) in his career and theres definatly more to came just ask HHH and HBK, but Cena also needs to be here when HHH,Michaels, and Undertaker retire to carry the WWE because those will be the harder times in WWE so he may be there longer than we think,:jason:

Any normal wrestler would be completely burnt out by now, but you are talking about John Cena. Cena is completely dedicated to the business and will continue to work at his best until he feels that he could no longer go. His passion for the business will determine his longevity in the business, which i hope is a long time. WWE knows that John Cena is the man who brings them money and they SHOULD try their best to not let his hectic schedule get in the way of how long he remains in WWE. That is exactly what WWE should do if they're smart and know what's good for them.

I am not a fan of the John Cena competitor for many f the reasons others aren't however, I have always been impressed with the work ethic and the values of the man behind the gimmick. I think an even bigger issue for Cena and the WWE are this current gimmick. Does anyone really see Cena working the hip hop rule breaker in his 40's? I think they need to repackage him and it can be subtle but the idea of a middle aged guy street fighting in jean shorts seems ridiculous!

i give him a good 5 or so years before he leaves to start acting. he's starting to become more injury prone, getting married this year, and will probably have a kid next year. So he's starting to settle down. That's why he's been able to do as much for the WWE, because he wasn't settled down and didn't mind doing it. He's definately going to be up there in the names with Hulk Hogan, Rock, and Austin (you might disagree with me now, but just wait about 10 years), but i dont give him too much longer. He'll be gone by around the time Rhodes/Dibiase are able to ascend to the main event level.
