View Full Version : NFL Playoffs Divisional Round Live Discussion
Yeah it's a bit early. But by this time tommorow 1 game will have already been played. So here's my picks for the weekend.
Carolina beats Arizona by double digits.
New York beats Philedelphia by a field goal.
San Diego beats Pittsburgh by a touchdown, very close game.
Baltimore defeats Tennesse by a few TD's. Ravens defense whoops up on Kerry Collins.

I wanna see half of your predictions be wrong. Nothing against you. I just dont see Baltimore beating Tennessee by 2 TD's. Tenneessee is very underrated.
Arizona almost beat Carolina last time. Why does no one remember this?
I can almost agree about SD because they are 2-0 lifetime at Pittsburgh in the playoffs.
The Giants and Eagles can go either way.

The Titans/Ravens game starts in a few hours. I'm hoping for a big day from the Baltimore defense.

Arizona almost beat Carolina last time. Why does no one remember this?
I remember this. Trust me. :lmao:
Carolina, PantherPride all the way through and through.. but I'm not stupid nor am I ignorant. Arizona has the one thing that is like Carolina's weakness.. a very good, if not great passing game.
New Orleans and Drew Brees torched the crap out of us. Sure, Week 17.. Brees was going for a record.. but let's look a bit deeper.. Brees didn't have the great duo of Fitz & Boldin.. so if we got torched by lesser WRs.. yeah, I remember that we almost lost to Arizona.
I can't stand "records".. and right now, all the records are in Carolina's favor, which in my mind hurts them more than helps.
1. Carolina has won some odd 5 of the last 6 meetings
2. Carolina won in the reg. season
3. Warner plays poor in bad weather
4. Arizona hasn't won when traveling to the East
etc, etc, etc, etc..
All of that sets up a "Cinderella" type finish for Arizona to do what Carolina did in 2003.. win when noone felt they could.
Trust me, I want and hope more than ever Carolina will win like everyone says.. in a double digit romp.. but I'm not as confident, because I know my team's weaknesses.

Carolina over Arizona 31-30
New York over Philadelphia 24-20
Baltimore over Tennessee 17-14
Pittsburgh over San Diego 21-20
I'm hoping Roethlisberger would be fine but I have confidence in Leftwich as a backup.

Seriously, what is with the Giant love? Eagles are playin' some GREAT ball right now and they've already beaten the Giants. That team is fallin' apart, I tell you, and Eagles are just hitting their stride, which is great for them.
TheOneBigWill

Pittsburgh over San Diego: (20-14) The weather is going to play havoc in this game, and when it comes down to it.. Sproles won't be a secret anymore. Rivers doesn't have as good of a passing game, and Sproles isn't big enough to power through the Pitts' Defense.
Baltimore over Tennessee: (10-6) I seriously wouldn't be shocked if this was more like a 12-9 game with noone scoring a single TD.. the only reason I have it 10-6 is because Ed Reed is going to find himself a pick, then turn into a Punt returner.
Tennessee, in my mind, still isn't the team in the A.F.C.. BUT if they beat Baltimore, without it looking flukish.. I'll be sold.
Philly over New York: (27-17) Eli and the Giants will start out nicely, but Philly will settle in and win in the end. Westbrook may not be the guy carrying the Eagles to this victory though.. but it should come through a ground game.
Carolina/Arizona: I decline judgment on the game in fear of jinxing it. :lmao: I want my team (Carolina) to win, but I wouldn't be as shocked as most if Arizona wins.

The Rostania Wildcats scored thirteen point-balls with 9.0 average in the N-zone thanks to Peter Mayfield - M-marker of the Quarterback of the MVP IMO. God, I love American football.

I was hoping for Carolina to be much better tonight than what they are. Granted it is sometimes difficult to win twice against a team you have already played during the regular season. I was hoping Minnesota would have won last week to play Carolina tonight. Minnesota is my team and it would have been fun to have an in-home rivalry with Will...lol

And that will end any chance that Carolina had at a miracle.
I am loving this not because I hate Carolina. Far from it, I frickin love Carolina and respect Arizona. I just am happy that all the so-called experts were wrong about the Arizona game. So fucking what that they finish 9-7? They have now won 2 playoff games (granted the boys dont completely blow it) including a road game against a tough Carolina team.
klunderbunker
01-10-2009, 10:47 PM
I was wrong about them too. That's what's great about the playoffs and proof that the NFL system is better than college. If by some miracle they win the SB, you won't hear that much talk about them not deserving it, although there will always be the annoying people that claim it.
Arizona better hope that the Eagles win tomorrow. They have a better chance at home against the Eagles than playing at the Meadowlands against the Giants.
klunderbunker
01-10-2009, 11:11 PM
Granted I would have said the same thing about them playing Carolina. They've been stunning for the past two weeks. Maybe they'll do it again next week.
But the difference is that they have a history of playing competitive against Carolina. Arizona plays competitive against any team at home but have never fared well at the Meadowlands.
klunderbunker
01-10-2009, 11:35 PM
They haven't faired well on the east coast all year either but they did today.
Im talking about in the last few years. Arizona has beaten Carolina in Carolina. Plus Carolina went 8-0 at home this year. If history has shown us anything it is that when a team goes undefeated at home an entire season, they will more than likely lose their first game at home in the playoffs. It happened to Denver a couple years back. It happened to Kansas City a few years ago. The only exception was last years Patriots.
klunderbunker
01-10-2009, 11:45 PM
Yeah more than likely they'd go down. THey're hot right now though. Might work out for them.
Thats why winning all ur home games means shit because the most important game is your next. Carolina, if they had lost at least one home game this year, I can guarantee you that they would have probably won against Arizona. But now we will never know. Can you imagine if all 4 road teams win? That would be funny. San Diego and Ariozna hosting the Conference title games? Wow that could actually happen.
klunderbunker
01-10-2009, 11:51 PM
It's possible that it could be Philly, Arizona, Baltimore and San Diego. 9, 9, 11 and 8 wins. The best record could be the 6 seed.
but best record is not home...division winners are so it would be sd and arizona hosting.

01-11-2009, 12:01 AM

LOL @ the Chargers, all that shit they talked and they played like that. The Steelers dominated the second half. SD had zero yards of total offense the whole entire third quarter. this is a good time for a mediocre offense to click. Come on, bring on them Ravens. give Flacco a little bit of that big nasty defense and see what he does. We rattled a poised QB in Rivers, and I believe we could rattle a youngster in Flacco.
Go Black and Gold.

I think they can. Ben looked poised, he looked like the 05 Ben, and our defense played well. We did give up some passing yards, but thats because SD couldn't run. We rattled Rivers, and their offense was out of sync all day. I couldn't guarantee a victory, but if we lose, it's because we turned the ball over. Besides, theTitans beat the shit out of the Ravens, and they are going to be bruised and battered, and two hard fought games can't go well.

you're pulling for a team with a rookie QB. I still don't like that. Tennessee hurt themselves. The 3 turnovers on 3 potential scoring drives. He didn't really need to make a play. Yes, he has played well, but if it comes down to making a play on offense, who would you want, a guy who is 6-2 in the playoffs, with a SB ring, or a guy who is 2-0 and not really "flashing" on offense. Anyways, it should be a tough game, but I still think the Steelers are going to win..

alright, I will use stamina as my deciding factor. When Roethlisberger went to the AFC championship game, he looked tired.. It's time for Awesome Joe to turn into mediocre Joe.
Edit: Joe is gonna have to pass more because the running game will be mediocre at best... If we get him into passing situations i think our defense can rattle him and cause some turnovers..

both teams have a fuck ton of injuries right now LOL. I dont think there is any real discernable advantage for either. Itll be whomever makes the least mistakes, and who gets the most lucky breaks.
Big Beck-ah Roethlisberger

not really, the only one on the Steelers with an injury is Harrison, and I think he's alright.

why would their runing game be mediocre??? Their line is playing some of the best ball in the whole league. just ask Dallas. Dallas has a sub par defense. SD's had a good running game the last 7 weeks, and the Steelers shut the door on that. LOL at Darren and his 11 carries for 15 yards.
I wouldn't call 112 yds rushing on 31 carries mind boggling.

eh, the moved the ball fine enough against Tennessee's D which is one of the leagues best. Like I said, I just dont think there is one major advantage either way. Itll come down to mistakes, and lucky breaks. Santonio Holmes returning punts and kicks will be huge.

Face it, Parkers injury was months ago. No Steelers outside of Roethlisberger were injured leading up to the Chargers game, and every single one of them left untouched.

The 3 times has been done before...go all the way back to the Giants super bowl year that they lost....they beat the Eagles 3 times. All games were pretty close. It can be done. The Rams beat Seattle 3 times a few years back. Last year Dallas lost because the Cowboys love to choke.
If I had to choose, (which Im not because in my own contest I was eliminated) I would pick the Steelers in a close defensive battle and in the other game I would pick the Eagles in a great offensive battle.
