View Full Version : The chances of a Wrestlemania win for.....

Over the last couple of days, i've come to realise something. I've noticed a couple of times, somewhere in this forum, that there is/was a thread asking whether or not HHH should win his next WM match, as if he had a particularly lousy record at WM. Sure, he lost to the Warrior in about 30 seconds, and has probably lost more World Title matches at WM than ANYONE else in history, but after looking through my WM box sets the other day i realised that there's another ME guy with a far worse reputation at WM. And that guy is....

The Big Show.

In February, Big Show will have been with WWE for 10 years, and he's won at the grandest stage of them all, a grand total of once.

1999 - Mankind df The Big Show after Big Show chokeslams him through 2 steel chairs
2000 - Big Show is the first man eliminated from the Four Corner Elimination World Title match within 5 minutes.
2001 - Big Show is pinned by Kane following an elbow off the stage during a Triple Threat Hardcore title match.
2002 - No match due to injury
2003 - Big Show and A-Train fail to defeat the Undertaker in a handicap match, because Nathan Jones ('Taker's scheduled partner) gives them a kick each, and despite the fact that the format of the match had changed, the ref decided not to DQ the Undertaker
2004 - John Cena df Big Show for the US title after using brass knucks to set Show up for a 2nd FU.
2005 - Big Show is defeated by Akebono in a Sumo wrestling match in a matter of minutes
2006 - Big Show and Kane df Carlito and Chris Masters to retain the World Tag Team Titles after Kane pins Masters (i believe, i'm pretty sure Show didn't get the pin anyway)
2007 - No match due to being on hiatus
2008 - Floyd 'Money' Mayweather df. Big Show via knockout in the 'Best Fighter v Biggest Athlete' match

For a guy who's the largest athlete in the world, they sure do showcase him as a useless pile of crap at Wrestlemania don't they? So, my question is, do you think that Big Show will win his match at the Silver anniversary of the Showcase of the Immortals? Or is this losing trend likely to continue in your view, OR worse still, will Show be left off the card completely?

It's weird if you ask me, that he's got 3 occurences in that list where he loses in a ridiculous fashion, has at least 2 matches where he should have obliterated his opponent, and 2 opportunities for his name to be remembered forever in sports entertainment, yet is dispatched in a stupidly short amount of time, and the one time he did win, he didn't even earn the fall himself.

If Khali has a match this year and wins, and Big Show doesn't, then he'll already have a better win-loss record at 'Mania then Show does (and for the record, i don't count Khali losing the pre-Mania Battle Royal last year as a loss, as it was near enough a dark match.

Any other thoughts, like why they'd do this to Show, is more than welcome also.

I'm perplexed at Big Show's WM record also. He wasn't going to beat the Undertaker or Cena anyway. I thought it would have been great if he would have won the four-way at WM 16 instead of Triple H retaining. If he isn't in the Smackdown main event at Wrestlemania, I don't see him having a match. It would be interesting to see him in the Money In the Bank match though. Triple H may surpass him in Wrestlemania losses with 8 and that's hard to believe.

Maybe, but 1) i wouldn't consider last year as a loss as it was Cena who conceeded the pin, so therefore, Cena was the one who lost in my book, and 2) HHH has won several big matches at WM as well as losing a load as well, so that's why i felt Show's record was so atrocious because he's only won 1 match and he didn't actually win it himself. I think Mick Foley is the only other guy with as bad a record as Show, except Foley has definitely won 2 matches to my knowledge. The Tag Titles at WM14 and that 1 on 1 match with Show at WM15. To my knowledge, Mick never won another WM match, and if they hadn't booked Big Show to get DQ'd in that match, this thread would have never existed.

Bigshow is a overweight giant that cant get over no matter what he does. So there's no reason for him to win at wrestlemania.
