HALLELUJAH!

World Wrestling Entertainment's plans for Wrestlemania were thrown out the window with word that Dave Batista, who was in the running for the Raw side of the Mania main event, has gone down to a torn hamstring.

Batista is expected to miss several months and will be undergoing surgery shortly, according to several sources within the company. The Randy Orton punt kick to the head last week was the storyline reason for Batista's disappearance from the company.

There's no word whether the company will acknowledge the legitimate reason for Batista's absence or will just put the heat on Randy Orton.

Batista's hamstring began giving him problems during the most recent European tour and has worsened since. This would be Batista's third major muscle tear, as he's had previous tears to the lat muscles in his back as and his triceps in 2006.

Word within the company is that as of now, they aren't expecting Batista back until June at the earliest, with a worse case scenario being August, so all Wrestlemania plans involving him are out the window for now. That certainly puts momentum towards Cena defending the World title against Randy Orton at the company's flagship PPV.

Oh, shit.

Cena/Batista II is out then.

I'm thinking, Cena/Orton/??? in a Triple Threat again, as the Raw main event, but SmackDown main eventing the whole show.

Possible ???s - HBK, Jericho...Punk? Mysterio?

I don't know. Somehow I'm just not feeling Cena/Orton one on one.

I would probably buy Wrestlemania for Cena/Orton. It's gold every time those two face each other.

Actually, fuck that.

Cena vs. Christian.

Tomko, give me a beat.

Now who will he verbally jerk off over the next half year?

Hey, I've had a bad night. Go easy.

Cena vs Orton could work, but it wouldn't main event the show and it wouldn't be with an Orton Rumble victory, methinks. Maybe Orton to win the EC at NWO.

I would rather it be RR. How unexpected and totally badass could they book THAT

What else would in that place? A one on one match should always end the show.

The main event of WM, you mean? I'm feeling Edge vs Hardy, personally.

I'm feeling it'll be TLC as well.

Orton's probably one of only two bets to win the Rumble, the other being Edge. I feel Edge will be the one to pull it off, though.

I really can not understand where you people are getting this TLC match from, why the hell would the have two ladder matches on the same show?, are you people completely forgetting about the MITB match?, and I still say SD! ME will be Trips vs. Edge

as far as heels are concerned yeah, and they should have a heel win the Rumble this year, but you always have to take in consideration that HBK, Taker, and Trips are always up there as well also

Mighty NorCal

cuz they might not have MITB Justin. pretty simple logical answer there.

and yea Harthan I have mentioned Edge Vs Harvey, TLC. Although I would have it be the early ME match, not the end. the end ME of WM shouldnt involve heavy weapon/gimmick usage

Paul Revere
12-23-2008, 12:20 AM
TLC match should be the rubber match, anyway. Far as I'm concerned, less gimmicks the better, especially at Wrestlemania.

Side note: No Batista at Wrestlemania = Better Wrestlemania.

Mighty NorCal
12-23-2008, 12:22 AM
agreed. it should have JUST the TLC, and thats it, save for possibly a triple threat for the IC or US title....

Richard
12-23-2008, 12:24 AM
The end match of a WrestleMania should be a pure wrestling match and not some crazy gimmick match. That's for One Night Stand, GimmickMania.

Orton is RAW's best chance of a RR victory.

klunderbunker

Which is why WM 2000 is forgettable: no singles matches at all.

Paul Revere

Yup, even the main event was that Fatal Four Way, that match is actually quite good though.

Frank the Frowner

There won't be a TLC unless they scrap MITB.

Harthan

I considered that. I figure they would do the MITB, but probably move it to the main event of Backlash or something. Or have some strange occurence in which the MITB match was just a six man battle royal over a ladder match.

Now I think more on it, though, TLC would probably be better suited as the Backlash or JD main event. Jeff vs Edge one on one would still be a great match.

As for Trips vs Edge, I just can't see Hardy losing the title before WM without losing all of his credibility with it.

as far as heels are concerned yeah, and they should have a heel win the Rumble this year, but you always have to take in consideration that HBK, Taker, and Trips are always up there as well also

They are indeed, but with two faces champs heading into Mania, you've got to expect a heel to pull it off for the first time since like, ever. I think there was a post somewhere else that pointed out the last real heel to win the Rumble was Yokozuna.

Side note: No Batista at Wrestlemania = Better Wrestlemania.

I disagree, actually. I feel Batista to be one of Raw's best talents, and Cena vs Batista was Raw's best main event to send on to WrestleMania.

12-23-2008, 05:14 AM
cuz they might not have MITB

God I hope so. They should have that at every other Wrestlemania, instead of every Wrestlemania.

Don't get me wrong... I don't wish any ill will towards Batista, after all, the man is a grandfather (lol), but when his presence is non-existent, I enjoy the product so much more.

The man is a bore and it pains me to watch his matches. I'd rather watch a marathon of Snitsky matches than 2 Batista matches.

I am kinda upset to see batista get sidelined. I really like what him and orton were doing with their feud. I thought that it was going to be great. Although I don't know who he would have faced at maina. Really orton I hope wins the rumble, thus locking him with whoever is the champ. What was there for him to do... mitb? no way in hell would he look good in that. So really I think that it's a blessing for him.

I don't know if I want to see another trips cena match... Although their match at night of champions was really good. It would be a good match I just think hunter needs to move down from ME mania for a year. He's been in the ME for like the past 5 manias besides the one that he was injured and missed... Who know what creative is thinking. I really want to see cena v orton, or jericho v orton... I think those to matches would be amazing...

I don't see them moving mitb to another show. Well at least not to one that is not a major pay-per view. Maybe Summerslam. Considering all the other major pay-per views have something big. You have the traditional match a Survivor Series, and the rumble. Mania is maina, it's always going to sell... So If they moved it, it would fit best at Summerslam.

Frank the Frowner
12-23-2008, 03:10 PM
Either way, give the WWE credit for having the foresight to book Batista/Cena at Summerslam. Imagine if they had held out for WM for that match. I'm sure the writers are already panicking, but it would have been even worse if they were building up for the first meeting ever between the two.

Cena vs. Undertaker is a better option for Mania anyway.

Yeah baby! That is freakin' awesome. I'd have hated to have had Batista in the Main Event. Now all i need is for Hardy to lose the WWE title and Wrestlemania will go back to being the best thing ever!

Cena is a bigger wrestler than HBK, which equals a bigger match. Better possibilities match wise? Big deal, WWE have your money by the time the match starts.
