If you had the power would you use it? (This is NOT a if you ran WWE thread)

I don’t want this to be another sole Triple H thread even though I will bring him up nor do I intend for it to be a “what would you do if you ran WWE thread.” Those could easily be searched for. Anyway....

We all have certain wrestlers that we’d like to see be in certain situations or left out of them. Most threads involve people expressing what they wish would happen or would happen differently. Imagine actually being in the position to make those situations happen in certain instances, not as the owner) but as the actual person benefiting in the ring from decisions .

Take Triple H for example. Just like us he has certain things that he’d like to see happen though since I’m guessing that he is his own favorite wrestler he helps make certain things happen for himself or for those who he likes the best. I know that people hate that fact and I personally don’t agree with a lot of his alleged “politics” but I guess what I’m asking is if we’d be any different if we went from just talking about and complaining about how things are to actually being able to dictate things?

I know that it’s all hypothetical and know that we all know if our personalities dictate how we’d treat other people but does anyone believe that if they were actually a Triple H or any wrestler like him with the power to not just talk about what they’d like to see like we do here but actually sometimes make it possible, do you think that you’d to some extent take advantage of it and if so to what extent?

We know that some posters strongly dislikes specific wrestlers so I’d imagine if some of those posters were in the business and still had the same opinion and had the power to attempt to bury them they’d possibly take it. (At the same time if in the company opinions might change)

Speaking for myself I’d probably try to help others out as much as possible instead of just myself. However, if I were actually a "top dog" performer and so in with the big dogs that I had some clout I can’t possibly say for a 100% fact that my attitude wouldn’t change to at least some degree. I’d like to think not but I can't say that it's impossible since I can't comprehend that position.

So how about you guys?

If I were a "big dog" and/or porking the owner's daughter (given HHH as an example), I wouldn't allow myself to CONTIUOUSLY hold a title belt, and I would at least give some of my other collegues a chance at what I did establish.

Of course, I take this thread as a Undertaker's leeway point of view. Granted, he had his new girlfriend (who I may add is beginning to be a wrestler, but still a prissy diva) crowned a new Diva's Champion, but I love it to where the Undertaker is letting himself get a beat down by someone who could physically beat him. A gem, to say the least. But things would be different.

I would at least allow other new, and up-and-coming wrestlers actually take the helm and advance their own careers to superstardom by having them get over on me, I being a part of the company for so long. Not necessarily job, but let them get that deserving push that their amature career needs. But I do agree with you, Klown, as my attitude would be different about things and I would go for a lot of change and give a little more toward creativity.

I think it would depend largely on my age. If I was relatively young yet, I think I would probably use it, as a way to ensure I get top level paychecks, and to build my legacy. I think I would probably put my wrestling career in perspective of eventually being good enough to be in the WWE HOF, so, I would have to do what I could to make sure I had the kind of career that would be considered. Call it protecting my legacy, I guess. However, as I got older, I would hope that I would be comfortable enough to realize my place in the company, and that if I have done it all, I have nothing left to prove. At that point, its time to either step aside, or actively make younger wrestlers look good. If my career lasted as long a HBK or Undertaker, into my 40s, I have already done everything I could possibly hope to do, so at that point, I think I would slip into teacher mode. I might use my power to elevate a young up and coming wrestler that I think had loads of potential, instead of maintaining my own position. Lets be honest, when you are HBKs age, you KNOW you have had a great career, you KNOW when it all comes down to it, you MATTERED. That is really all a wrestler can hope for. You want to be remembered. If HBK never wins another match his entire career, he is still HBK, legend, icon, etc. If I got to that point, I hope I would be selfless enough to use my power to help others, rather than as a way to desperately hold on to my own glory days. I hope I wouldn't be so vainglorious as to hold on too long, I don't want to be remembered as one of those guys. So, I think as long as I had a realistic view of where I stood historically, I understood my legacy as other people might see it rather than my own opinions, I would use my power to ensure my spot, but once that is accomplished, help others. Selfish as younger wrestler, Selfless as older wrestler. I have nothing but respect for the mentors.

I like this thread. I think it'd largely depend on what situation I'd be in as an employee of a wrestling federation. If I had top-notch wrestling skills and basically all of my other "attributes" were really high, I think I'd be fair enough to let other talent gain some steam and credibility by going over me, possibly clean, if not frequently, at least often enough to create a bond of good will between myself and other workers. If my skills were high enough, it shouldn't damage my own credibility much. But you know what absolute power and what it does to a person; it has the potential to corrupt absolutely. I don't know what I'd do in a real-life situation like that.

And also, it'd depend on my career record and what I'd accomplished. If I were in the same situation as Triple H, having held multiple world championships and been carrying the company on a number of occasions and basically one of their top guys, I definitely wouldn't be as hesitant to put other guys over as I would be if I were a fresh guy or a relatively seasoned guy in the company. If I were in a situation like Bob Holly, working in a company for 15 years and pretty much nothing but jack to show for it, at least when it comes to title reigns, I think I'd be doing my utmost to win the most matches I could. But then again in a situation like that I wouldn't have "the power." But if I was in a situation like Holly and respected by the locker room and officials, I think I'd definitely be working my hardest to help other talent get over, as that's pretty much all there is to do for a guy in his situation. Yeah, another Holly analogy...deal with it >.>

Heh, I'll do another analogy here that pertains more to posters than wrestlers. Posters with "the power" should rep the hell out of you for for coming up with an original, thought-provoking thread like this, I knew I would if I had their amount of rep points! Kudos bro!

I think if you said you didnt you would be lying. I personally would use it yes. Maybe not to always put myself over and hold a title. But I would use it to hte extent to veto certain storylines and gimmicks that I didnt foresee me ever wanting anything to do with. I would use it to keep myself relevant yes. I would also use it to help out the company any way I could. I would use it but not abuse it. But I cant honestly bash anyone that does abuse it. If it works for you, then it just works for you.
