View Full Version : Is Ric Flair The Biggest Loser In Wrestling?

Most wrestlers who finish with no money usually weren't main event wrestlers.
I fail to see how ANYONE other than Jake Roberts can be called the "biggest loser" in wrestling history. I mean, the guy was an all-time great and he threw it all away on substance abuse. He alienated his family. He lost his fans. He spent his cash. And he's got nothing to show for it other than a career that ended in humiliation and the loss of a legacy. Neither Flair nor Roberts are very well off financially right now, but at least Flair is still marketable and has an amazing legacy in tact.
gah jake roberts was my other thought, but I went with flair

But Jake Roberts was a mid carder with a much shorter career in the ''big'' leagues. Flair has had more to lose.

Money wise I mean.
Also Flair has a hot daughter who I'd value more than Jake's fat one.

Flair declined to file charges in the case. But, his daughter is accused of kicking an officer. Chapel Hill Police say a taser gun was used on Ashley Fliehr.
Lol. Tasers hurt. But in a funny way.

Flair really has become a loser..he's 59 and he's getting into bar fights..his third wife has now filed for divorce...this is the man everyone calls the 'measuring stick' for wrestling. I'm sorry but at some point how you conduct yourself outside the ring is just as important as how you are in it. That is why Taker will always have more respect from his peers than Flair...you never hear any thing about him outside the business, and if you do, it's always positive because the guy conducts himself with class.
Then again, Flair's always been like this, we've all heard the stories about him running around naked with his wang flapping around at night clubs and hotels..Triple H seemed to think it was a positive trait when he mentioned it while inducting Ric into the hall of fame earlier this year. The man should be living life, enjoying retirement, and not have to worry about money or paying off the IRS...he is not a very intelligent man, that is why he's in the position he's in, and that is why he allowed WCW to railroad him.

If all of a sudden we're judging legacies on what goes on outside of the ring. Then there is no way flair could be number 1 loser. Have we forgotten benoit already!!!

Yeah, Hogan is a massive douche, Ric Flair is just a normal loser.
Whoever said Chris Benoit. I know all the stuff he did, but people actually liked him, but everyone I know was just waiting for Shawn Michaels to hurry up and beat Flair so he could just piss off and retire already.

Actually, I think Ultimate Warrior is a pretty big loser.

what Benoit did was unforgiveable and tragic, but it was done by someone who was obviously not of sound mind with a serious mental illness. Benoit conducted himself throughout his career with class in and outside of the ring and was loved and respected by all his peers...the incident in question took place over the last two days of his life. Flair conducted himself in the manner described earlier, his entire adult life as a wrestler.

It's a good point about Benoit, he may have had a screw loose, but he had good financial sense.

The real question is: Would Flair have received the big send off if Hogan was still in the WWE?
The answer is no.

speaking of hogan, why did flair get such a tremendous send off and hogan didnt... in fact i barely remember hogans send off at all.. i just remember him dressed as mr america or whatever. I have never been a huge flair fan, i respect him for what he has done, but i never enjoyed watching him. when he retired my biggest reaction was, "meh." His matches were always the bathroom breaks....

Triple H and Shawn Michaels grew up with a huge erection that said Flair on it, and since they have Vinces ear, they decided to put together the Ric Flair 15th reunion tour.

When Michaels landed the final Sweet Chin Music at Mania, you could almost hear the crowd sigh with relief - "thank god THAT'S over, then". THE sign of just how much of a loser Flair was, quite apart from his crap personal life. HBK, putting in all his effort, could only get Flair up to "useless" from "diabolical". Still a great showing from Shawn, though.

Flair was merely a 'link to the past' and I believe that's why he was given so much attention and adoration. Looking at the roster, he's was the only member to have main evented in the 80's, giving him a little bit of marketing leverage. In his last five years he rarely main evented a show, let alone a pay-per-view.
One of my favourite Flair matches was a tag match. At Vengeance 2004 he teamed with Eugene to face tag champs La Resistance (at the time, Evolution was trying to manipulate Eugene and this match was a part of that storyline). Eugene tagged in and did every Flair move in the book, demonstrating that any retard can do what Flair does, pardon the faux pas. Flair's reaction's were priceless.
I've had similar thoughts about Flair's financial situation. Any income he's earned in his career has been divided so many times by divorce (assuming ofcourse that he did not sign pre nuptuals..) that he would now be left with on eighth of his actual income. Pathetic.
Flair will be back with the WWE soon enough.
On the topic, erm, no he isn't the biggest loser.

The only time period I didn't mind flair was when he was with Evolution because he could be the cool heel and still get cheered by the fans.
Everything he done since Evolution just bored me to death.

And his hair is really silly.
That storyline where he lost it and then his twelve year old son wrestled was great.

What about Brock Lesnar? He could have had a legendary career in WWE, but then he throws it all away for the NFL? Then fails returning in Japan, and now if he doesn't get on the right track may fail UFC?
Esteban Ochocinco

Brock Lesnar still has a shit load of money, and is barely 30, Ric Flair is 60 and broke, a great accomplishment for a 17 time champion.

Before to long, Flair is going to have as many ex wives as ex championship title reigns.
