Hardcore title was shit

Yeah, it definitely wasn't a prestigious belt, but the 24/7 rule made it interesting, you never knew who was going to be the next champion. It was the perfect time filler.

I'd say because it was relatively unpredictable. Things happened every week. Matches weren't wasted on tv for free instead of making us pay for them.

For me, the Attidude Era was over almost as soon as it got officially branded as the "Attidude Era". From my memory, and I could be wrong 'cos things can get fuzzy timewise, the fun of it was before they made the on-screen acknowledgement. That moment when it was transversing between something that was still trying to hold on to the 80's style and wasn't really blatantly acknowledged as a TV show owned by Vince and made like any other TV show, whilst the wrestlers were starting to drop character (whether instigated by creative or not) and suddenly started at acknowledged that they were employees of a company and TV show and tried to exploit their position of having a live mic on live TV. It was one of those rare moments where for a while you weren't quite sure what was supposed to be happening and what wasn't. Doubting what was script and what was real. And for me that doubt was the crux of what the Attitude Era was all about. By the time they branded it as the "Attitude Era", it killed the illusion 'cos it was suddenly 100% apparent that it was company sanctioned.

edit: In addition, one of the key moments of the Attitude Era for me, although it may be footnote wrestling history, is when that guy from The Headbangers, doing a dodgy schoolboy gimick as a solo wrestler, suddenly threw off his hat mid promo and said he couldn't do this s**t character anymore. That sort of thing, the breaking of old school wrestling era to new era reality whether shoot or scripted was the key to the Attitude Era for me.

Kurt Angle. What? He was there.

Really, I found Austin to be boring. I was alwways a bigger fan of the Rock, with his mannerisms and killer mic skills. Even when he was a naughty heel in the Coperation, I was cheering for him.

The Hardcore title was a low card title sure, butit was funny(like the time it was won when a wrestler was asleep in his hotel) That stuff is just comedy and made for excellent tv!

They 24/7 hardcore title idea was fun but I felt for it could have been have been held as a more serious title in the Attitude Era. The entire title seemed to always be a joke somewhat whilst I felt it could have been a more serious title for a longer period of time.

The great thing about the Attitude Era was that there was a contendor for WWE's crown as the main company, WCW. It made everything had to be on the ball or you could switch over and watch the other show, today we are choiceless and there is no competition at all, choice was what made the Attitude Era, people were watching WWE out of preference.

The Attitude Era sucked. Over rated garbage is what it comes down to. Austin was enjoyable, true. The Rock is completely over rated. his in ring work was shit. If he wasn't good on the mic, no one would care about him. I would hardly say that the tag titles were held at a prestigous level. I just can't see a division made around the New Age Outlaws, Rockabilly and the Roadie, as being taken seriously. The product is much more enjoyable today.

The Rock had some good matches. I can't name any off the top of my head, but they existed.

Also, Kurt Angle w/ hair.

Also depends on what you define as the Attitude Era. I'm going with simply 1998 and 1999. Once Russo left in october of 1999, it took a few months, but the product became amazing by january. I would say the Attitude Era was from Screwjob to Austins Injury at SSeries.

What was great about the Attitude Era? Austin and Rock.

Everything else was either as good as it is now, or much worse.

And the back catalogue of events coming out on DVD. Because I was too young to really appreciate the product.

Oh no...I can't decide whether that game is actually better than WWF Warzone. I vote no...because it was hyped to be so much better than Warzone. But it was just Warzone with extra crap added.

It was at that point that I ripped that cartridge out and put in :007:.

Hardcore division and Jericho and Rock's promos. Seriously, they should make a "best of Promos" video featuring only these two guys. Two of the business' premiere mic men alone could make any episode of Raw or SmackDown fantastic. And then put all the great wrestling and edgy storylines on top of that...Man, I do miss them days.

Attitude Era started in 1998. HBK left a quarter of the way through. There is only one other quality D-X moment.

5.Corporate Ministry

6.Kane

What did he do after Mania?

7.Tag Team division taken seriously

The Rock made it entertaining and it was not stale. You did not really know if a title was gonna stay with a wrestler or change hands unlike today. The wrestling product was worse but the entertainment value miles better. If only we combined some of the wrestling talent of the early 90s with the entertainment value of the attitude era, you would have the perfect show. My favorite highlights from the attitude era include Taker throwing Rikishi off HIAC, Kurt Angle in general, and the Rock and Jericho badmouthing Steph.
