As of now, this is my new favorite band. Finnish Viking Metal, with a Celtic flavor. The most interesting thing about this band is the fact that they manage to fuse upbeat Celtic music with Viking metal, its almost like Viking Folk metal. I'm surprised that I've never heard of this band at all before recently, but now that I have I'm hooked, and its to bad that Itunes doesn't carry very much of their stuff.

Here's my current favorite by this band

Moonsorrow - Pakanajuhla

ROFLMAO Ech, I can't BELIEVE you know who Moonsorrow is! I love Moonsorrow! Only because my friend introduced me to them, and I was so blown away by the sheer audacity of their music. ROFL I can't believe I just logged onto WZ and saw you mention Moonsorrow, I'd give ya rep if I could man. Pakanajuhla is the song that got me hooked on them; great damn band.

Moonsorrow are probably the greatest band in Metal at the moment. Every album & EP is fucking brilliant. There really is no weak link within this band, every aspect is flawless. I've seen them live twice, and god, what an experience.

I remember the first time I heard them, hearing the song "Haaska". The driving folk melodies, beautiful guitars and rich atmosphere had me hooked instantly. Verisäkeet ranks in my top ten albums of all time.

Wow Xfear, I'm also surprised that you do in fact enjoy listening to Moonsorrow, considering that they're part of a genre that I would have assumed to be out of your normal musical tastes

I have been listening to a few of there songs, I particularly like Pakanajuhlu, Köyliönjärven jäällä, Haaska, Their epic poem like song San karihauta, and the awesome remake they did of For Whom The Bell Tolls

For one thing I just can't get over the style of the band, almost like a Folk and Metal mix, its intoxicating in some areas, especially with songs like Haaska and San Karihauta. Most of their songs are long and drawn out, like many of the classic songs from the 70's. Most of those "epics" tend to tell a story if you look at the lyrics, with San Karihauta being a prime example

The only complaint I have is that Itunes carries almost no Moonsorrow whatsoever, so I'm going out to see if I can find the CD's, which I would be more than happy to pay for.

Here are a few more songs by Moonsorrow, including some of the songs I find so addictive
