I hope that Britney Spears >> WWE situation is a complete non starter. It would show the WWE as being weak and trying to clutch to a celebrity who is on her way out (the opinion in Britain, can't comment on USA). Fair enough they did the whole thing with Federline and whilst that personally wasn't my cup of tea it was still good to see him get FU'd.

The Donald Trump storyline was different as they worked proper storyline around that and it eventually amassed to something. But i can't see any good coming out of Britney Spears. It would epitomise the celebrity obsession we have over here (again, can't comment on US) whether they are successful or even a role model to aspire to, if they have limelight, use it.

Well I'm sure fans of the WWE would like to see Spears appear in a cameo role or two. However, wrestling fans which I would class myself as, would much prefer to see a match even if it doesn't mean anything.

On a final note if they do go with Britney...they could always do "hair vs hair"??????

Speaking on behalf of the Americans that aren't brain dead and obsessed with mindless celebrity nonsense, I desperately hope they never do an angle with Spears. Then they'll start trying to make Paris Hilton a diva or something, which would just be abysmal on so many levels.

This is a joke, right? WWE can not seriously be entertaining such an idea (and if they are then someone needs to put the cr@ck down). Britney Spears’ musical career and life in general are one big, pathetic joke right now. Sure a Spears appearance would boost ratings (and I’m assuming she’d appear on RAW since most of the ladies are on Raw, a possible singing contest with Jillian maybe?). Overall, I can’t see any good coming from it…other than Lita or Trish coming back and kicking her a$$ (not likely to happen but nothing wrong with wishful thinking).

Even if WWE used her in a ‘cameo’ role, could she be trusted to show up? On time? Clean? She can’t even show up to court or stay clean long enough to *try* and get her kids back. Her ‘comeback’ MTV performance was a train wreck. She has a history of being unreliable, drug abuse, and most recently mental instability.

No one is perfect or expected to be and yes other WWE stars have had their share of personal problems, but I don’t think her "celebrity status" is worth WWE taking a risk on using her in any kind of role. WWE does not any more bad publicity and Spears is a PR nightmare IMHO.

I'm not American (I'm English), so already don't care much about their celebrities. Therefore if Spears was to, somehow, someway, come onto WWE screens, I think I would be done. WWE is already pissing me off to the brink of insanity, and this would be the straw that'd break the camels back for me.

I hardly think she will appear unless some kind of money making miracle, but even then, we've had Donald Trump, Mike Tyson, and Pacman Jones appear on wrestling shows. Publicity stints ftd! (for the death)

Britney in WWE? Why not? He's a celebrity, everyone knows the name. She'll also probably kill herself withing a few months. She's be perfect for wrestling. Imagine how much publicity an appearence from here would bring to WWE? There was plenty offTrump and even K-Fed. So somebody as big as Britney would be huge. I'm not saying that the angle would be good. But it would bring in viewers who wouldn't normally watch wrestling. You never know some of them might get hooked.

^^

Agreed. The only thing that could get more publicity from the media would be if Paris Hilton did an angle in WWE. Meh, I really don't want to see it at all but it would be good for business and Vince doesn't give a shit about anything other than business. But could you imagine a Britney Spears/Jillian Hall sing off? Fucking classic IMO.

Honestly though, The whole Trump angle was ok other than the fact that he couldn't cut a promo worth a piss, I don't like the idea of her appearing but business is business to Vince. She'll appear and ratings will fly up, then about 2 weeks later back to the same 3.3's. So it's really his choice if he wants to add more garbage to the show for a one week wonder, or just move along with less garbage.

I actually think it has potential as something above mentioned. This could bring in the viewers that usually don't watch wrestling. If WWE is smart (which they won't be), they would be sure to book good, sound matches and angles, AROUND the Britney angle, so people get left with that impression of what the WWE can be about, and just maybe, after the Britney angle would be over, they would stick around and keep on watching.

Yes, that could happen as long as they did make the rest of the show as well as it can be. Load it with star power & big spots mixed with good wrestling and proper finishes and it could work.

But I still think it would deter "Wrestling" fans. Still backing hair vs hair

Britney in WWE? PLEASE tell me this is not true. I hate her. What could she possibly do to the WWE except make the mindless diva section grow? And she wouldn't even wrestle. She'd just sit there shaving her hair off and looking at her boobs or something.

Seriously though, she has no purpose in the WWE. She is definately now seen as more of a weirdo than of a proper celebrity. She shaves her head, apparently takes drugs (Is this true?) and can't look after her children properly. Where could a storyline involing her go? I don't think there is any.

Furthermore I just think this would be seen as a despreate attempt by the WWE to increase ratings. Especially when they don't need to. Britney Spears doesn't fit into the WWE, it's as bad as Kevin Federline. But even at least he had more of a point being there than she does now. Spears needs to focus on getting her children back.

By bringing Britney Spears in, WWE will be able to create mainstream media coverage for their biggest show of the year Wrestlemania. The concept was used multiple of times in WWE over the years, Tyson, Trump, Mr T, Limp Bitzkit etc.
WWE using Britney will be able to push the Wrestlemania buyrate higher and Britney is able to jumpstart her career. Its a win win situation but a carefully thought out storyline if she will have to step into the ring.

But what possible feat can Britnet bring to the WWE? Look at some of the people you mentioned..
Tyson - He is a professional boxer. Even though the sports are different a lot of the skills are needed in both. He's athletic enough to hold at least 1 match.
Donald Trump - Feud with McMahon as both are millionaires.
Limp Bizkit - Simply speaking, their music is practically The Undertaker, and their style seems very WWE.

And if this is true, and especially if she steps into the ring as if about to wrestle, is the day I realise WWE creative has gone, and I can almost feel the credibility of the WWE going down. She has a very negative image in the media over here.

Ratings for a short time and then they will be back to normal. WWE only cares about keeping a main audience and bringing in money right now because there is no competition. So Vince and others could give a fuck about the show until we stop watching.

She won't wrestle. That's just idiotic.

If she is brought in it will be some sort of storyline that involves no wrestling. It's basically just more WWE garbage but nobody can really deny she wouldnt bring some sort of ratings. The Media would jump all over this a hell of a lot more than the Trump thing.

Personally, I don't want to see it. Creative just has their heads up their asses and don't look to be taking them out anytime soon.

It just annoys me so much. Her place isn't any where near a wrestling ring, it's on a stage. And she can't even do that anymore.
I get deja vu from everything that happened with Federline as well. Is this just a personal thing against him? If he can do it so can she?
And how many people who don't watch wrestling are going to pick up on this and use it as another attack at WWE and the people that watch it. Seriously her credibility is practically 0 at the moment.

Good, because if she did wrestle I don't know what that would mean for the WWE. The thing is, she's coming to World WRESTLING Entertainment, does she not see there's no place for her?

The media are going to love this, and ratings will go up from how much coverage it gets. I'm just scared of what this could mean in the long run.

Oh boy, I just want to delete this thread and pretend I never heard one damn thing about these fucking rumors being started. This is terrible, beyond Jackass Steve O terrible, beyond David Arquette world champion terrible, beyond Wrestlemania 11 C List Celebrity terrible, beyond Jay Leno and Karl Malone wrestling terrible, beyond celebrity announcers at Wrestlemania 2 terrible.

For fuck sakes, how could anyone thing taht this is a good idea. Why do people give a damn about Britney Spears? She has never been hot, she has zero talent, and she is annoying as all shit. I mean, I pretty much described Jeff Hardy in a nutshell as well, and I guess he's getting a title shot regardless of what I feel.

People wonder why the business is in the shitter, look no further then stupid ass celebrity angles like this. That's all I have to say, because shit like this pisses me off beyond all belief.

I have to disagree. Just think it'll be like a female Jake Roberts in WWE. But with less talent. She'll be able to work pissed. why? Because she's Britney, bitch. She'll be terrible on the mic. She'll make one of the ugly Diva's look hot. It'll be awesome. And she wont be involved with the wrestling. She'll be with The McMahon's and Hornswoggle, which is an embarrassment anyway. And WWE will keep her just because she's Britney. Get her on LIVE Raw now.

Look at that word after Wrestling. Entertainment. It is about WRESTLING and ENTERTAINING.

Now, I've been thinking about this and how could they manage to work a decent angle. It has already been established it would happen on Raw, so what could happen that would work.

Jillian Hall.

Her singing will continually suck until someone tells her, she should really hire a coach. Boom, in comes her singing coach, Brtiney Spears. And then work an angle from there.

It is really though, the only way I could see them incorporating Britney into a story line that isn't completely and totally insane.

I still think her name is VERY marketable. And it could help bring in a lot of new fans to wrestling who would tune in to see what was happening. Keep her in the Women's division storyline, but have her mainly stay away from the big picture lines. Surround her segments with good, exciting matches, that will hopefully get the new fans hooked.
