^ What was your reason?

Well, now that Jericho has returned, I'm going to go with him, he just as an uncanny ability to play the crowd, he's very articulate and he's able to deliver his lines with such enthusiasm and with barely any mistakes, I enjoy watch Chris at work

Jericho and Santino tie it up for me. Jericho for the same reasons Ech pointed out, and Santino because he's the only guy that can keep me literally laughing out loud for the duration of the promo. No one else can do that.

I wouldn't say Jericho. Back in the day, before he got "fired", he was entertaining......now, it's become really childish. He's trying to be like the Rock, but failing miserabley.

Comedy-wise, it's definitely Santino. He reminds me of Piper back in the day, he was supposed to be a heel, but people found him very entertaining on the mic.

In serious promos, it's gotta be JBL. He's got a very unique character....and he definitely stepped up to the plate when he needed to.

Santino is amazing on the mic. He has new things to say each week, and never fails to make me laugh. He knows how to work a crowd better than most people at the moment, and is a really fresh bit of talent. Often he has been one of the main highlights of Raw, especially with some of the rubbish that has been produced lately.

Kennedy also deserves a mention. He came at just the right time for the WWE to use his mic skills, and due to this he knows how to have a good feud. Anyone else remember the Michaels promo? Classic.

As for Jericho, yeah his mic skills were second to none back in the day. I was kind of disappointed upon his return, as I expected new phrases and a little new skill. He was still awesome, maybe a little rusty, but after so long off it's understandable. He deserves an honourable mention in it.

Santino Marella: He has such a cockiness about him, that carries him well. The ability to butcher a language is amazing, & the only reason William Regal hates him, is because he's stolen Regal's spot for doing so. Santino's entire career was saved off of his ability to cut amazing promos on people & give the audience something to laugh, boo or cheer about.

Mr. Kennedy: When he first came into the W.W.E. all he was, was talk. In my opinion, its toned down a lot since his move from Smackdown to Raw.. he used to cut amazing promos, & the best one I've seen him cut was against Shawn Michaels. I can only hope we'll continue to see more from him.

Edge: The man is unbelieveable with promos. Anytime they give you, your own talk show, thats when you can safely say you're great at talking. Edge may not have the Cutting Edge anymore, but he can still come out & rip a person apart.

Shawn Michaels: Does ANYONE (other than Becca :p) remember the Heartbreak Hotel? H.B.K. was golden on the mic, & he's only gotten better with time. The greatest skit I EVER seen him cut, was the mocking of Hulk Hogan/Larry King. The saddest promo I've seen him in, was the "Lost Smile" promo.. & the most controversial one, had to of been after he hit Undertaker (by mistake) yet the general number of fans turned against him. Shawn Michaels is unbelievable on the mic., & can make any wrestler look amazing just by talking about him.

EDIT:

Chris Jericho: Since returning, his promos aren't as good. To be honest, right up around when he was leaving, his promos really dropped. Some of his best work was against Chris Benoit, Stephanie & The Rock. I can only hope J.B.L. brings out the old Jericho within him.

M.V.P.: All the man does is talk anymore, but he does it because he can. He can make you hate him, before he ever gets into the ring. He can make you want to see him get hurt, because anyone ever lays a finger on him. M.V.P. is solid on the mic.. & his in-ring ability is amazing as well, which will definately lead him to become a huge Superstar in the short future.

Best for me on RAW would be Santino, and Smackdown would be Edge. I would agree with all the above but another guy I would add is William Regal. He is overshadowed because he is not in a wrestling role anymore. But he can cut some pretty funny to intense promos.

And we can't forgot Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon, although some have of his recent promos have become dull and boring, something about his demeanor always demands attention.

I would have to go with Santino, MVP and of course Edge. These three are the best on the mic. Santino is so funny, MVP could be the future rock if he continues the way he has been going and edge always gets heel heat from the crowd. I would say Y2J, but he just hasnt seem to deliever upon his return.

When Jericho is on the mic i cant regeist. Hes just too funny and has tons if charisma. HBK is the same. MVP, edge are great too but i gotta go with HBK and y2J. Santino isnt good on mic. His gimmick is what keeps him going and his funny accent.

I'm going with Jericho on this one too. He's just so charasmatic and can play a variety of roles and do a variety of different promos. If we were talking about in their prime, I would probably take Flair, but he's kind of lost it. Not bad, but he's lost some of his edge.

I'll state my top three.

Mr. Kennedy: Mr. Kennedy's enterance istelf is pure skill on the mic, he can blurt out anything and make it sound interesting. What I find interesting about Mr. Kennedy is that he is a genuine heel he does all the bad evil things a heel should but the fans still cheer for him and they fall in love with the charector MR. KENNEDY........ KENNEDY

Santino Morrella: When I went to the RAW Survivor Series Tour there was not a dry eye in the house when Morrella was in the ring doing his promo he seems to make every one laugh and I mean everyone for egsample I had to be the only one cheering when his enterance music came on but as soon as he picked up the mic and started to work the crowed burst into tears of laughter

Chris Jericho: The all around best mic worker in WWE today, everyone likes Jericho weather your an old school fan or just a little kid getting to know what WWE and pro wrestling is all about Y2J will keep you entertained for as long as he can. When he returned and did the "Me want title" promo I couldn't help but get right in the action Jericho is amazing and he is one of the very reasons why WWE's mic work and promos are so great

Honerable Mention Triple H and Edge: Triple H and Edge seem to have that aura about them they always bring there best espicially Edge everytime I watch SmackDown! I always want to hear what Edge has to say. Same goes for Triple H he is great on the mic and always keeps the fans guessing and there always entertained.

Jerico and Santino are also ties for me.

Both know how to use humor, which is a big plus, and Jerico always customizes his promos with insults that pertain to his opponent.

Jerico is better then Santino, though, because he has more experience.

HHH is, of course, a God on the mic as well.

My top three are HBK, JBL, and edge

HBK brings so much charisma and energy when he's on the mic. In the 90's there was no one better than HBK. His promos would have you pissed off at him the first five minutes then laughing your ass of next. Today he's gotten even better with age his promos with cena, orton, and edge were good not to mention the dx ones also.

JBL second because his wrestling god proms draw so much heat and he can work a crowd very nicely i even think his skills are better than hhh.

Edge third because if you guys remember every heel that has worked with cena has been cheered because of the fans hate for cena. Still edge was the only one when he worked with cena still got booed on the mic and drew alot of heat than any one else did with cena. To me if you can get the crowd to boo you (the heel) more than cena you obviously have some skills on the stic.

Jericho - Everything he says comes out with unbridled passion and intensity which is no wonder that the audiences eat everything he says up (yes including me)

Edge - He doesn't cut promos he "shoots" and most of what he says is right on the money, gritty yes, but very true.

i will have to say edge from smackdown because he is just great on the mic and can cut really good promos. isn't bad in the ring as well.

and from raw. i would say kennedy because he is the best in the business when it comes to the mic. espically on smackdown he would cut the best promos

It has to be John Cena for me. I mean I love Santino but he is basicly in WWE so he can make us laugh week after week.

Does anyone remember John Cena???? It seems people are forgetting him now because of his injury but he is definately the best in the business currently.

He said currently, Cena is out ATM.

Top 3 best talkers in the WWE
1. Chris Jericho
2. Ric Flair
3. JBL

Top Honours also go to the following
Mr Kennedy, Edge

First of all, can i just say NOT Mr Kennedy, he is awful, literally all he does is repeat his name. Edge pointed this out right before the MITB match- summed it up perfectly. I honestly think KK is the new Cena- will be pushed to high heaven, because of good sales potential, but in fact has very litte talent.

Top 3:
1. Santino Marella- no explanation needed, other than his sheer ability to make people crack up week after week. (Fav moment his remix of 'Rehab' bashing Stone Cold).

2. JBL- Heat magnet v good at mocking people. Was particularly whilst commentating when to an extent he bullied Michael Cole.

3. Edge- Anyone who can make people dearly LOVE Batista over his opponent has gotta be v good on the mic!

Highly commended:
MVP, HHH, John Morrsion, Y2J

Chris Jericho: Of course, my favorite. He is still as good as he used to be back in the "Attitude" days, but this time around he has no one to play off of (JBL does not count, sorry). Back then, he had The Rock, Stone Cold, Stephanie, HHH, and others. He can always get the audience hot. Put him in a feud with a good talker, and let him rip.

Santino: Very funny, very funny. Didn't know much about this guy, even when he had the IC title. But now, since they gave him a mic, he has become very interesting. Bright future.

Ric Flair: Of course, you can't forget the Nature Boy. He is still a current wrestler (as of writing) and he can always deliver an intense promo and get the crowd to go "Wooo!" But, nothing compares to back in the day with him and Dusty, Funk, Hogan, etc. He will be missed when he retires.

I thinks its HHH or HBK sorry but they are to natural, neither of them look like they are even trying to talk they just go out and do what they have to.

Based on the WWE today:

1. Chris Jericho - Amazing on the mic as a face and heel. I miss the days when he would make fun of Stephanie.

2. Santino - He is hilarious! Amazing mic skills, always cracks me up.

3. Ric Flair - No one is more passionate on the mic than Ric Flair. from the "WOOOOOOOO" to Knee dropping his blazer.

Edge and Triple H are also great on the mic, though I prefer Triple H as a heel. His promos as a face are hard for me to buy because I always see him as a heel character.

In my opinion, the best of all time is The Rock. His skills on the mic eclipses everyone else's in the WWE. I loved that promo before the Armageddon Hell in a Cell.

Flair is and will always be the man when it comes to promo's he has soo many its not funny and he rarely fails to dissapoint.

Triple H and HBK are the great as well especially interacting with each other because never seems forced and it just naturally clicks and sometimes its just their mannerisms when the other is talking that just shines through.

And Santino is a suprise didn't think he would be this funny but has eclipised all expectations.

Back in late 1999 to 2001, Chris Jericho was excellent. There's no arguing his charisma and how natural his insults or any kind of subject matter flow. I can't really say the same these days, but I think he's still good.

Now, Santino Marella has got to be one funny guy. The promos he cut on Stone Cold Steve Austin about The Condemned was hilarious and in many ways true. He's entertaining on the mic and knows how to get heel reaction with his stabs.

In first place comes Santino - the guy is gold on the mic. he's hilarious and can generate heat with the best of them. that and he can open up a can of ass-whip when he needs to
Jericho comes second jsut because of his charisma and his humour.

purely for generating heat, JBL. no1 does it better and he can always say what works best to get the crowd against him

Capt. Charisma

Obviously it is Edge, any one who says otherwise is wrong. Edge can pretty much draw heat on demand from any crowd. He always gets a reaction from the smackdown crowd whichsome would say is harder than in front of a raw crowd because they tend to be into their wrestling less. His improvisation is good, he is consistant and sometimes funny. You can't really fault the guy on the mic. I skill don't think he is as good as Cage on the mic, but in WWE he is certainly the best, and has been for the past 3 years.

JBL is a god of talking smack. This guy can wipe the floor with you just like that, sooo good how he used to go into wild rants when commentating and hes better than ever now he is back as a wrestler. Another guy that draws heat on demand. Witty, and I find his rants hilarious at times. I dont think I remember this guy doing a bad promo in the last 5/6 years.

MVP puts in some good ones, especially as of late. Good drawer of heat, good promos recently with flair.

I just noticed they are all heels, best face I would sat Jericho, but saying that I havn't enjoyed watching a face promo since Rock and Austin left.

Thanks for the mention, and yes of course I remember. HBK cut some great promos in this time, and was one of the best men on the mic. We don't hear as much from him now which is a shame as he really has a lot of skill, and I think the last time it was used properly was with DX, and even then it wasn't to the best of his ability. Give him more mic time, and all the newer fans will see what he can do.

Chris Jericho: Since returning, his promos aren't as good. To be honest, right up around when he was leaving, his promos really dropped. Some of his best work was against Chris Benoit, Stephanie & The Rock. I can only hope J.B.L. brings out the old Jericho within him.

I completely agree with you. Jericho han't been Jericho at all on this. And I definately remember his promos against Stephanie and The Rock. Who can forget when Stephanie had the boob job? Some of the best one-liners ever. He needs to get back into that mind set because his return was a let down.

Deffinetely Santino, he keeps me interested and laughin in his promos he's hilarious!

- Flair, of course the legend, great promos he's having at the moment with MVP which i have to give credit to MVP he's great on the mic too.

I agree on this! he used to be AMAZING with his mic work but now obviously many people can see he's rusty. Give him time hopefully he'll be back to par specially working with JBL (whom i think gets the most heat with his mic work, pisses me off to the point of insanity LOL amazing heal. :P) Can't wait to see/hear the Jericho of old!

Yeah, I think everyone misses the Y2J of old on the mic.

Is the drop in Jericho's promo quality directly related to WWE being more scripted and less improv on the promos or just a step back in talent for Y2J is what I am really wondering.

I mean, HHH and HBK are still golden, but then again they are Vince's golden boys and will be able to get a little more wiggle room if they wanted it. So you could use that as a comparison, to much of an apples and oranges kind of deal.

Y2J is still very entertaining, Elijah Burke to me is by far the best on ECW it is not even close I would like for them to use him more but the show is only 1 hour, MVP is probably the best on Smackdown in my opinion, Santino is just flat out funny I love that guy, don't know if he will ever be a star in the ring but he seems like he would make a great manager if the in the ring thing don't work out

JBL has to be my favorite mic talker. The guy is simply amazing. He can make you hate him and love him at the same time without even trying. His promos are so seamless and fluid that I (personally) think he is in my top 5 of all time as well.

1. Santino Marella. I could care less when he wrestles, but, I ALWAYS stay glued to the TV when he has a microphone...he is easily the funniest guy they have had since Mick Foley...
2. Chris Jericho. He has that unique blend of comic wit, and sounding intelligent. He is totally comfortable talking, unlike some others...*cough*BatistaOrtonBothHardys*cough*
3. Ric Flair. If this were a best ever, Flair would be my #1, easily, but, I have to admit, lately, while his stuff has been passionate, its all been the same...I love you fans, I am proud to have wrestled in front of you, etc...
4. Triple H/Shawn Michaels. These two are both really good individually, but, when they are together, they are even better, because they feed off of each other so well.
5. John Cena. While I personally got really sick of Cena's long title reign, I have to admit, he can be pretty good on a mic.

Mister J

I believe Mick Foley is the best in the business. He puts in alot of emotion in his promos and interviews. It doesn't matter if he is happy, sad, or just pissed off with someone. He does it better than anyone i've seen in wrestling.

Davi323
01-29-2008, 08:44 PM
Yeah, but Foley is only on once every three or four months now, so I don't think he counts...I limited my list to people who are currently full-time wrestlers, not once in a while make an appearance types...otherwise Foley would have made the list.

1.) Santino - I do not care if the man doesn't wrestle another match for the rest of his career. Listening to him talk is one of the reasons why I tune into RAW everymonday.

2.) Kennedy - This guy is gold. He does more than repeat his name. He is very good at playing off the crowd and he can make any feud interesting based on his mic skills alone.

3.) Y2J- He can cut great promos but they are not as good they used to be. For example, the promo he cut on RAW last monday for his match against JBL at the RR was so not Y2J. However, I still think he is one of the best on the mic.

Santino Marella has easily got to be the best on mic today. Everything he says justs flows so naturally, which is hard to do with that accent. He seems to me like he could be the next Roddy Piper. Since it appears as if The Highlight Reel isn't coming back, and Carlito's Cabana never got over with the crowd, Santino should get his own talk segment. Kennedy is also great. I don't always buy what he has to say on the mic, but I can tell that if they gave him some good material, he could pull off a Rock-quality promo. The same for Cena, except I think he would come across more like Austin than The Rock. I would love to see Rock and Austin write a segment, hand it off to Cena and Kennedy and let 'em run with it. And of course we can't forget the ayotolah of rock and rolla Y2J. So what if its the same stuff he was doing before he left? His stuff is so good, it would be dumb to mess with his formula.

mattitude2007

I gotta give it to Kennedy.

Santino is probably the best at comedy segments, but Kennedy excels in both serious promos and goofball comedy skits. While he has not shown his comedic side on RAW in quite a while, he goes wild with that stuff at house shows where he isn't restricted by the storylines as much. He was crazy funny in OVW too.

the best on the mic:

1. John Cena - he could cut great promos...hes funny, witty, even when angry, great mic abilities

2. Y2J - he's also witty, arrogant, funny as hell, even when hes serious like the recent promos with JBL are terriffic.

3. Santino Marrella - he is outstanding. hes timing is perfect. he can connect with fans, although his mic skills with steve austin werent too shabby, but other than that hes worth watching (promos that is)

4. Ric Flair - i just love this guy's promos even today. I always enjoy what he has to say . And i am glad he's finally cutting promos again, because just last year he never talked.

5. Shawn michaels - great on the mic aswell. i enjoy his promo just as much as the other guys i put up.
